Well, at least he was sober, I guess...

An IMPD officer, a 23 year veteran of the force, is on the other side of the law. Officer David Butler has been charged with robbery and official misconduct after police say he robbed people during traffic stops. And investigators say more victims could come forward.
I'll bet there's a sign hanging in the break room at the cop shop that reads "Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department: Over __ Days Since Our Last Public Relations Disaster!"

...and that zero in the tens digit is noticeably faded and dusty.

  1. My legal strategy would be:
    1) Plead not guilty due to intoxication.
    2) Volunteer for a blood test.
    3) Have the blood test performed by an "uncertified" medical facility.
    4) Move to have the results of the blood test ruled inadmissable.
    5) If the court rules to admit the blood test, appeal on "equal protection" grounds.

And before you can say "Step Six", my client is free!

  3. The victim summed it up nicely:

"It's not good police," he added.

  9. I remember when they fired the entire Cicero Police Dept and brought in Illinois State Police. Mayhaps the same be on the horizon in good ol' Naptown ?

  10. Duh! I'm robbed every time I'm stopped. Usually the town and state get to keep it and the cop gets a pat on the head.
