Possibly slightly piqued at being bumped out of a news cycle by Mother Nature, Barry journeyed to Joplin, MO to get in front of some cameras at what was supposed to be a memorial service and promise to spend however much Other People's Money it takes to set the place to rights. (And if that isn't enough money, we'll just print more!) At least Crazy Jimmy gets out there and swings a hammer himself; can you picture the Community-Organizer-In-Chief trying to figure out which end of the Estwing is supposed to hit the nail?
You'd think that Obama would be relieved to see that there are still some forces on the planet more effective than the Democrat party at destroying businesses and leaving people homeless.
Jeez, do not point out that Mother Nature is even more destructive than the Democrats -- that is a challenge to The Obama. He will redouble his efforts!
ReplyDeleteFor BO it is not a bug; it is a feature.
ReplyDeletewv: dizeso: dizeso depressing
"...there are still some forces on the planet more effective than the Democrat party at destroying businesses and leaving people homeless."
ReplyDeleteThe 'pubs? Okay, maybe not "more" but certainly "as"...
And at the moment, I am sad to say, I don't see anybody on their bench that could turn this tour bus to hell around. Yeah, that includes you Sarah. Better stay on it if you don't want to get thrown under it.

P.S. And let me Remember to say a hollow but heartfelt Thank You to those who gave their lives to save ours...and especially to those who struggled against impossible odds to resist our own government's cancerous growth and consumption; things could have been so much different now had they been successful then.
AT,
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time, you could count on the GOP being too busy destroying your freedom to take your money (and the Dems being too busy taking your money to destroy your freedom) but you're right in that it's been more than twenty years since you could reliably tell the players apart without a scorecard.
Isn't "community organizer" merely a euphemism for "rabble rouser"?
ReplyDeleteDems and Pubs: In Eugene Debs' words, two wings on the same bird of prey. One mostly chooses between the lesser of two weevils--which still ruins the biscuits.
"...it's been more than twenty years..."
ReplyDeleteTwenty two years, four months, ten days. But who's counting?
Sigh.

Thanks but...
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to explain the difference between New Orleans and here.
Here in southwest Missouri we pay our property insurance, most people are waiting homeowners claims not a new HUD rental.
We don't send our children to chant "We need HELP" in front of TV cameras, we volunteer to help each-other to the point that we almost get in each-others way. We will be helping our neigbors and rebuilding our lives(Home Depot already has new building framework up) long after the TV cameras have left and Barry is back on his golf course.
Incidentally the president managed to shut down almost all of the major roads and necessary intersections just as church was getting out yesterday. I have little doubt that presidential security managed to shut people out of cleaning up and salvaging from their homes while Barry "surveyed the damage".
Oh and all those "Joe the Plumber" tradesmen whose wealth Obama wants to "share" have been donating their labor to help the people whose homes might be saved.
I remain unconvinced that after seven days Obama can lead in this situation, the President of the Untied States shouldn't follow, I just wish he would get out of our way.
Oydysseus said it better then I ever could. Southwest MO. dosn't wait for the government to save our ass, we're too busy.
ReplyDeleteBut because of the magnitude destruction they do need help in Joplin. Just not because politicians dream photo op. But because they pulling together to over come this tragedy. If anyone wants to help there are organizations that are accepting donations. The citizens there will appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course "taking your money" = "destroying your freedom" and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteSix of one, etc. etc...all just a bunch of Republicrats.

I bow to your wisdom AT. I now realize that government assistance has never come with strings attached and.....I do love big brother.
ReplyDeleteRemember Barry's Creed: "Never let a Crisis go to Waste (unless it puts me in Harm's Way)."
ReplyDeleteOdysseus,
ReplyDeleteI believe AT was responding to my comment.
And I understand that y'all didn't request this plague of locusts; it ain't your fault that B.O. decided to make a photo op out of your tragedy.
Odysseus: Tam is correct of course...always good to skim the string before taking imagined offense.
ReplyDeleteBut I didn't mean to belittle your harsh reality as I criticized the O's co-opting of it and drew the parallel with his predecessor's of the Tango war.
Sounds like you took a personal hit...admiration and prayers for you and yours.

I'm sorry AT. I projected an attitude that I've encountered this last week in person onto your comment.
ReplyDeleteThe chip that is probably still on my shoulder is fear that as weeks go on that this effort will become less how can I help my neighbor and more why isn't the government helping them. That first hit of "free" money historically seems so similar to the first hit of a drug. The thing that scares me is that the town I've seen last week will be killed not by a tornado but by a flood of well meaning/purposefully disabling "aid". That some people will not regain their pride again once they are rewarded for victimhood. That the souls who barely waited for the wind to die down before pulling people from the rubble with their bare hands will be turned into drones waiting helplessly on the rooftops to be rescued.
The thing that worries me about the government "help" compared to all of the private charities is that people grow to feel entitled to it, and I fear that becomes a cancer to the human spirit.
The above does not excuse my sarcastic lashing out upon you AT, but I feel that you are owed an explanation.

ReplyDeleteProgressivism, socialism, communism...call it what you will, but that's a pretty comprehensive and insightful indictment of top-down gov right there.
"Purposefully disabling aid..." Wow.
No worries as to the misunderstanding...you're entitled to that at least. Good luck; I have a feeling we're all going to need it...and a heaping helping of that self-sufficiency you allude to :)

I need to acknowledge the Brannigan quote, because it makes the post 17% more snarky.
ReplyDeleteNorth,
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy! :)
"You'd think that Obama would be relieved"
ReplyDeleteBut, B. Hussein Obama doesn't make any money off the natural disasters.
I am waiting for an executive order requiring that union wages be paid without disruption, even if the employer is unable to operate. That way he can continue to drain the economy and harm his enemies (those with money he doesn't have) even after the wind dies. That, I imagine, would be a relief to our dear Narcissist in Chief.
