Considering that a felony rap is apparently considered a career-boosting move in some corners of the entertainment industry these days, how do you get Marky Mark on the set of your next action movie legally without the Funky Bunch of Investigation kicking down the door, arresting him, and eating all the catering?
You have him only use magic fake guns that shoot special pyrotechnic charges!
What will they think of next?
I'm still trying to figure out how Sean Penn as a CCW in Ca much less owns a pistol.

[T]he fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your guns, and the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point five-oh" written down the side of mine should precipitate your [leaving immediately].

"What will they think of next?" Rubber Knives?

See, that's why I love capitalism so much. If you'd given me a whole lifetime and an extra brain I would STILL have never imagine trying to serve this unique market.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet, through the miracle of the profit motive, they remain served and happy.
God bless Adam Smith

They could do this, but most of the time they just give them replicas or props and then add the muzzle flashes in during post. That sort of effect is ridiculously cheap now.
ReplyDeleteI always thought it was cool that the guns on NCIS are the no recoil kind, with auto-homeing bullets. When I grow up, I want some of those.
ReplyDeleteRight now, work requires me to dump 250 rounds of .45acp at least 3 times a week. I'll tell you, after all that, I can't wait to get home and run down to the range with a rifle.
What a concept! One end of the gun goes against your shoulder, and you can it things 10 or 12 times farther away.
Still, you're always well dressed when you're carrying 8 Hydroshocks in the small of your back :-)
"in the small of your back" - Uh, OK, but I'd rather keep mine in the pistol.....

Marky Mark starred in Shooter where he was actually trained in long-distance shooting and handled quite a few guns that looked very real, even on close inspection.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the film was shot mostly in the Northerne Waste-Lande of Canadia so I suppose any American felony convictions don't hold up there. I suppose Canadian gun law must have some exceptions for movies, to allow the kind of hardware used in Shooter.
Those felony convictions can really screw up an operator's life. It truly sucks when Dick Marcinko has to shoot Osama Bin Ladin with a Remington Model 1851.
ReplyDelete...or pose with an airsoft on the cover of your autobiography. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that Marky Mark is not technically bared from firearms possession due to some quirk in MA law. This is also the same quirk that prevented Ted Kennedy from being a felon.
