  1. No 10th Commandment issues at all. Old NFO isn't your neighbor. Now, Farmer Frank's SCAR-H might be an issue...; )

  2. It is about "COVETING". That does not say you cannot or should not want one just like his. It means you should not want to take his from him to make it yours. I imagine you are safe from such thoughts.

  3. Are you asking me if I'd Rufie his coffee to take the rifle? Because that's a tough question... :D

  4. RE: Italians - I sometimes have to remind myself that, just because some people aren't "good" at war (or, at least, haven't been since about 1815), they aren't cowards or stupid.

With regard to the Constitution, this seems to be the lefty play of the day: denigrate the Constitution as old-fashioned, incomprehensible*, or outright stupid in order to persuade everybody that we don't need to follow any part of it that we don't like.

This is really foolish when you think of it. How would it be if we just decided that, since the XIV and XV Amendments were written back in the horse 'n' buggy days by people who thought that, while blacks didn't belong in slavery, they just weren't as "developed" as white people, we don't have to follow those laws any more and can bring slavery back if it serves some "greater good"? Or if "freedom of speech" doesn't obtain anymore because those knuckledragging primitives Washington, Madison, et al didn't know about cell phones, Twitter and e-mail?

Frankly, I find the denigration of our Constitution both insulting and alarming. It is insulting because that document (along with the efforts of many, many Americans over the past two centuries who have upheld it, oftentimes at cost of their lives) has given us a great nation, and alarming because, if these twits feel free to denigrate and even ignore the law just because "it's old", then what brake is there on their desires and behavior?

    ----

(*) Heard DCNN's Fareed Zakaria and Jeffrey Toobin yapping about how "incomprehensible" the II Amendment is. Hmmm... Americans since 1787 seems to have had no trouble understanding it. Maybe the problem isn't with the language of the document, but the fact that you two are a pair of liberal 'tards. Did you flunk high school English when you had to read Shakespeare, too?

  5. Here's another great fisking of the Stengel article:

  6. By the way... Isn't it sedition to push for the end of constitutional government?

  7. Crackpot Nazi weaponry can be fun. Like various Nazi-UFO stuff, at least as shown on the History Channel (check YouTube).

    - - - following may not be very interesting to others, but waddahay - - -

And the more-or-less real ones that never made it. Like the

fighter-bomber (I disagree with one bit of the article, it was not designed to be radar-stealthy: that property was realised during testing, and then refined). Which oddly (?) matches almost exactly the 1947 description of the "Flying Saucer" (actually the pilot`s description was more like one-half of a saucer, and the drawing he made sure looks like the Horton) that kicked off UFO interest in the US to an extreme not seen before. Did Northrup test-fly it before sending it to the Smithsonian? Probably not, but...

  8. "If you only read one..." AYE. Excellent piece! Thanks!
The SCAR's neat, but I'm in the middle of a regression; adding M1's (albeit with flash hiders and tritium sights) to the racks and spare parts to the bins. As ADM Gorshkov has been quoted as saying "Better is the enemy of good enough"

  9. I wasn't too big on the SCAR until I got to shoot both the 16 and 17 at SHOT this year...now, yes, NFO's purchase does make me turn a bit green. He is dead on about the felt recoil from the SCAR 17 and the ergonomics were spot on for me.

Still, handing a man a full auto SCAR and magazine with five rounds in it is just CRUEL! Bad FN! And they did it to me twice!

  10. So, what makes the SCAR better than other .308s?

    ReplyDelete
  11. First and foremost, most of the others were designed before most people had even heard the term "ergonomics", (although the FAL isn't too bad.)

  12. Damn those teleological cretins!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hmm. How is it better than an AR-type rifle chambered in .308?

As I understand it, AR type rifles have decent ergonomics.

  14. Other than the charging handle, they do. This fixes that.

Also, the controls are totally ambi, and it has a QCB. A lot of those features have been retrofitted to the AR platform by various companies, but sooner or later it's just going to be easier to start from a (relatively) clean sheet of paper than engineer a bunch of workarounds...

It's evolutionary rather than revolutionary: If someone (or some organization) has a FAL or AR-10-variant, it's probably not worth spending the dough to switch, but that's largely because the metallic cartridge firearm is very mature technology. It's an incremental upgrade, not a revolution...

  15. I find it funny that many of them what think the Constitution is an outdated relic of an older, more primitive age will beleive that Marx is the Progressive Wave of the Future.

  16. Tam, you're more than welcome to shoot it, you know that :-) I ever get out there for a blogmeet, I'll bring it.

  17. It's one thing to stick with aluminum mags over PMAGs (so long as you keep an eye on the condition of your mags)...

It's quite another thing that they are issuing/using the POS Easymags in a combat situation. That's messed up.

"Hmm. How is it better than an AR-type rifle chambered in .308?
    "

Weight is a factor. The SCAR Heavy gives you a very lightweight gun, especially for a .308 semi. I'd say it's also going to be tweaked better for reliability with the .308 round, something that has proven a bit more difficult with many .308 ARs.

  18. For me the one true improvement is the SCAR doesn't used direct-impingement. I've got an AR-10 that RUNS, (and some minor-caliber carbines with gas tubes as well) but I gotta say I prefer the "mechanical interface" between the gases and the bolt - hence more M1's...

  19. WRT the Constitution post: I long to live in an America in which Lady Gaga remains irrelevant to the working of government.
