Two by two, tongues of blue...

One of the more popular attractions at the Indy Zoo is the twice-daily opportunity to feed the giraffles.

(For those who didn't know, giraffles have tongues a foot long or so. And they're blue like a chow dog.)

BONUS!: Meta-giraffles!

  3. Their tongues are also rough--like 50 grit sandpaper.

I have a great picture of a giraffe sticking his head in the covered truck at the Glen Rose Fossil Ridge wildlife preserve in Texas. My wife has a cup full of "giraffe treats" and those giraffes know all about them.

    Cool animals. Real cool.

  4. Many years ago I took my kids to the Lowry Park Zoo and we visited the giraffe exhibit. There was a box of multigrain crackers from hell sitting in the pavilion and the girls began eagerly feeding the giraffes. I stood, mesmerized, until an zoo employee approached and explained that the crackers were $2 a piece.
