Hooray! It's Fun Show time!

Let's sing the Fun Show Song!
Flintlocks and Flop-tops
And Number Three Russians
Black-powder Mausers
From jackbooted Prussians,
Shiny Smith PC's from limited runs
These are a few of my favorite guns.

Socketed bay'nets
On Zulu War rifles,
Engraved, iv'ried Lugers
That make quite an eyefull
Mosin tomato stakes sold by the ton
These are a few of my favorite guns.

Rusty top-breaks!
Smallbore Schuetzens!
And all of Browning's spawn
I just keep on browsing my favorite guns
Until all my money's gone.

Mostly looking for ammunition and magazines this time 'round. And I need another ammo can, for bulk .32 ACP (which is funny when you say it three times fast...)

May stop by the Raven Concealment booth and check out holsters while I'm there. And of course I'm still not totally averse to the idea of a screaming deal on a Savage .32 auto, or a Remington Model 8, or a S&W .35 auto, or a...

  1. Fun show going here in Bloomsburg, PA also...not a huge show but since a new promoter took over it's been attracting much better vendors and there's room to grow. The timing is pretty good too as six weeks ago the spot where we set up our table yesterday (best selection of suppressors at the show) was under about 7 feet of water.

It also means that dinner conversation tonight will consist of talk of obscure weapons, even more obscure discussion of laws involving Title II weapons manufacture and sales, finding just how many rounds Dr. Ted's minigun sent downrange at Knob Creek, and figuring out whether or not we're going to travel down to the Fort Gordon, GA machinegun shoot next month as my buddy's son just left Fort Jackson to do his AIT there...and all done over some awesome southwestern food and a variety of microbrews.

    Yup...gonna be a good day!

  3. Cabelas at one time had a wad of Model 8's, some even had their original magazines, and there was an 81 that had an original AND a 15 round in 35 rem.

Had that been an indiana legal deer round I would have snapped it up. I don't understand why it isn't, frankly. Well, I do, but still.

  4. Say hello to MadMike for me. I was at a show last week here in Amarillo and saw a .405 Winchester lever-action that made me think of you.

  6. If I had any money to spend, I'd be there...

And if time permitted, I'd see you at the Blogmeet.

But alas, I have neither money or time.

The Nappannee show is next week though. If all goes well, I'll have the wonderful juxtaposition of both money to spend and time to spend it.

Plus there is breakfast...Amish Bacon by the pound.

    You are coming, right?

Brigid has the details. Og and others are planing to be there too (AFAIK). It is the best show for collectors such as yourself.

You are welcome to stay at our place if you so desire. Let me know.

  10. Do you take requests? I'd like the next gun show song lyrics to be done to the tune of the Muppet Show Theme.

It's time to clean the muskets!
It's time to stack the mags!
    I'm looking for semi-autos
    At The Gun Show tonight!

  11. I was there when it opened and stayed till around 10:30 hours, but I never saw ya.

Strange, we were on the same quest as I secured more magazines for my Sig 226/.40, the Kahr Micro and my LMT in .308. Also, packed out the mandator resupply of .50 cal ammo cans and some bulk .38 Spec ammo.

Then I had to leave and come home and work....

  12. Can't afford no gun shows, just blew most of the "spare" paycheck on a Bushnell "tactical elite" 6-24 X 50. Got it at discount at a paltry $650 instead of $750 but still the wallet cried out in pain.

And there was the pic rail, and the 30mm rings don't forget.
