What the iPod just played:

Wow, I hadn't heard that one since it was new.

On a side note, I stopped in the local Evildrome Boozearama (appropriately yclept "21st Amendment") and Garbage's "Only Happy When It Rains" was playing on the radio in the store. I be-bopped along down the aisle, singing "I'm only happy eatin' brains..." before exclaiming "Wow! I haven't heard this song in years. Practically since it was new!"

The counterchick said "Yeah, they just announced that this one was 'from the vault'..."

"You shut up! I was damn' near thirty when this song came out!"

  3. The waitress at the local deli was impressed that I bought the Garbage 2.0 CD at the used book and music store. She was 18 and I was in my 40's

She had no idea who The Staple Singers or Rare Earth were. I did lend her the one and she became a Mavis and Pop Staple fan.

I don't say that anymore unless I want to feel reeealy old, because these days the kids will say "What's 'Wings?'"

  6. The first time I drove past a "21st Amendment" likka sto' in Indianapolis (having just visited a friend there), I thought, "That's such a cool name I just HAVE to buy something from them!"

Left with a sixer of a very nice microbrew porter from Michigan.

    They's my faves!

  7. Tam, you are such a kid. I remember "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" from when it first came out. And now I've just resurrected an ear-worm virus which I had thought had gone permanently dormant. Those things are like Herpes, you know, and never really go away.

  8. I still remember going to a Jesus Jones concert in college. That was about a decade before the iPod came into existence.

wv: mashin... I swear I didn't make that up.

  9. BTW, there's a 21st Amendment Brewing company in CO. So far as I know, they were the first mcirobrewery to use cans instead of bottles.
