Please don't drive 88...

Straight from the horse's, uh, mouth at usps.com:
Your item arrived at 7:35 am on December 20, 2011 in BROWNSBURG, IN 46112. The Postal Service expects to deliver the item on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
I can hardly wait to see the mailman pull up in one of those funky-looking DeLoreans with all the pipes and hoses and blinky lights. Except... Hey, wait, shouldn't he have been here already?

  1. We often send items UPS previous day air, though it hardly ever works out that well. The shipping costs are out of this world.

  2. He WAS there, and earlier you grabbed the package. You (earlier) are now trying to get You (now) to drink more coffee to repair the fabric of space-time.

  3. Oh, and LOL @ Og; UPS Previous Day Air. That's priceless.

Who could travel much faster than light.
    She departed one day,
    In an Einsteinian way,
And came back on the previous night."

She must work for the USPS now.

  8. I think I detect some sarcasm here.
    (could be wrong)

  9. Uh, you might want to place an order from the 1903 Smith and Wesson Catalog on a penny postcard and see what shows up.

  10. Is your mailman named Doctor Who?

  11. Your previous self is enjoying it in a parallel universe as we speak.

( They broke it though )

  12. On the other hand, it may have arrived, but the Men in Black exposed you to their "Flashy Thingy" so you forgot about the arrival.

  15. I have that beat.
Item was purchased 4Dec from Colorado seller, expected to deliver 10Dec, went through a sort facility in Michigan 13Dec, disappeared for a week, turned up 20Dec in a sort facility in Missouri.
I'm in Indiana, still waiting for my stuff....
When (IF) it arrives, it will be 22 or 23Dec arrival, expected delivery for 10Dec.

During the week aboard the alien craft, call-in tracking had nothing different, customer service said it couldn't track it, and local post office had no clue.
Oh boy, I can't WAIT for fedgov to manage my healthcare.

  16. BONUS!!!
It has left the Missouri facility in the same day!
Left the sort facility 20Dec, expected delivery revised to, believe it or not, 15Dec.

Umm, wouldn't you revise expected delivery to something AFTER today?

  17. You see this is all due to the fact that Indiana isn't on daylight savings time.

It screws with the fabric of calculating dates and times.

(Part of the year it is in the east, part of the year it shares time with Chicago - or Mordor on the Lake™. Except for that little sliver up in the NW that always got its TV signal from Chicago. And so just bowed to the inevitable and went with whatever time the Daley's said it was.)

  18. Tam,

Your weblog is (do I dare say it?) more fun than a double handful of coffee apparatus.
    Cheers!

  19. Deb,

Indiana started doing DST in 2005, nearly starting a civil war. (And it might yet. Even Roseholme Cottage is a house divided on that issue.)
