Baby, it's cold outside...

It's all of eighteen degrees Fahrenheit out there, which is only two degrees lower than the warmest temperature registered by the Zed Drei's thermometer yesterday. To add insult to injury, Ma Nature just dumped an inch of sleety snow on my freshly-shoveled walks. I'm trying to melt it off with mind waves, but it looks like I'll actually have to get out there with a shovel and the sprinkler jug of melty stuff.

  1. 70's and sunshiny today here in Fla.

They're having a big aviation expo out at the airport where the Sebring race is run every year. I might ride the little 750 out there and see what kind of cool experimental flying stuff I can't possibly afford.

Tomorrow is the big gun show in nearby Lakeland, and wifey wants to go to the Target there. Throw in a good steak afterwards and that should make a good day too.

I get sick of the heat and the snowbirds sometimes, but compared to single digits and black ice, right now it don't seem so bad.

  2. Down south here we got about a 1/3 of an inch of hard freezing rain. I got the truck in (carefully, it's a tiny garage) to defrost without busting a move.

This morning, Barkley was out on the zip line doing "Snoopy on Ice!".

We're going to roast some jalapenos and a chicken for tortilla soup and hunker down til Monday. Be careful out there.

  4. Sounds like the real problem might be that you didn't lay in enough provisions to ignore it till it goes away.

  5. After we bought a house here opn the Frontiers of Seattle I got out of the habit of shoveling snow. It almost always melts in a day.
Until this year, when I have a large enough driveway that shoveling it would spell thrown back, and the sheet of ice on top of the snow would have made it futile anyway. Or so I keep telling myself.

  6. Oh stop moaning about it, at least you get some variety.

Winter here, todays temperature 7 degrees Centigrade, cloudy and raining.

Come back in two, four, six, eight months and...

..it'll be temp of 7 degrees, cloudy and raining.

Sometimes I wonder what all you people are on about discussing the big hot yellow ball thing in the sky or white frozen stuff falling to the ground - you made them up didn't you?

Eskimos may have fifty names for snow, but we Brits have at least as many for rain, and can talk about it for days (well, it takes a real expert to tell the difference between a Grade 2 drizzle and a Grade 1 shower you know).

    Just enjoy it :-)

  7. So you've got a nice mild winter too.

About the same as we have here now, mind you, we usually have single digit (farenheit) temperature at this time of year.

  8. . . . so your Darth Vader/Obi-Wan Kenobi/Qui-Gon Jinn Fu is under the weather? :-)

Check out the Darth Vader Volkswagon commercial. That'll put a smile on your face.

Even Vader needs a little help sometimes.
