While there is much to be said for nurturing our selves and our families, and our communities -- for sharing the joys in life -- I have to think that letting go for the nonce has gotten us into a frightful mess.
Preparing for disaster, examining the mundane about us for risks and hazards, has its place.
Brad: Nobody said anything about not preparing. The article was about taking ownership of one's freedom and choices.
Incidentally, that post outlined why I get honked off when people say the government "took away their rights". Rights can't be taken away by any many, any more than they can be given. Governments can only impose consequences for exercising rights. The choice of whether to do so is always ours.
Go Reno!! As Og said (paraphrasing), Do you think the ammo cans and shelves of pork and beans are gonna fix this - or some kind of ninja who can survive the zombie apocalypse by sheer force of will? Plus-1 for the gas-powered drill and some Blendzall to make it fragrant.
