Mumblemurmurwhaaa?

I think I've figured out my problem.

The Alarm Clock Time here at Roseholme Cottage got bumped back to 0500 a couple months back, in the interest of getting breakfast cooked, internets read, and Roomie ready for work at a reasonable hour.

However, I have still been hitting the hay at the normal time, and sometimes later. For instance, last night I was smokin' tangos 'til 0MG30 and then woke up and tried to do the normal writing and stuff on less than five hours of sleep.

No wonder that when I stopped at a store while I was out shopping, I was so disoriented that I thought "If I go in and find the place has been replaced by a dry cleaners, and the staff has no recollection of any previous tenant, I won't even be the least bit surprised..."

From now on, 2200 hrs is a hard bedtime...

  1. Heh. CoD4...dunno if I've gotten around to playing it. Got Battlefield3 for Christmas, and have to say...if you're not into online fragfests, this game only has about 8 hours of single-player action (and that's on OHHOLYCRAP level). Good thing I didn't fork over my own $60 for that thing.

    Looking forward to Diablo3, though.

  2. You can't keep staying up late on a School Night there Young Lady. Not and keep turning out the kind of free ice cream we've come to demand.

But yeah. Standing in the middle of a room, empty-handed, trying to figure why you came in there. Hasn't happened to anyone around here...

  3. Based on the last paragraph, I infer that you've been reading The Moving Toyshop. (That's the one in which the scene of the crime disappears, and starts off with "Richard Cadogan raised his revolver, took careful aim and pulled the trigger.")

  4. I've heard there's this thing called "time management", but I don't know much about it.

  5. That's about my schedule...I try to be horizontal by 10, with the alarm set at 5:02. If I roll over anytime after 4:20ish, I usually just get up so the alarm doesn't bother my wife.

I remember back when I was a young single sailor we used to say we would sleep when we were dead. Now, I'm dead if I don't sleep.

  6. The Original CoD4 Modern Warfare PC or Console?

I used to play a tactical realism mod of CoD4(PC), but then I got a life.

  7. So, I probably shouldn't tell you about Arma 2 and DayZ, huh?

And as far as CoD:MW goes...stick with that one. 2 and 3 are pretty and have some good refinement of the multiplayer...but introduce serious flaws and the single player stuff is awful.

  8. Time wounds all heels.

Welcome to the first fruits of old age. As Ron Reagan said to Jimmy Carter

    "Live begins at 70!"

  10. I've been telling myself "hard bedtime" ever since we got The World's Cutest Alarm Clock (pro-tip, infants don't know from weekends), but somehow I still wonder why I'm sleep deprived. And then I find myself in a Catapult with empty LRM racks at "oops-O'-clock". Thanks, MW:O...

  11. Or waiting for the end turn button in Sins of a Solar Empire. One of the two

  12. Bear in mind, sleep deprivation is cumulative. If you don't make it up, you pay a price.

Trivia: Freddie Spencer, after winning both the 250 and 500 GP World Championship in '85, went home and essentially slept for a month.
