The name of every tribe translates into "The People"

Mac v. PC

M&P v. Glock

Tastes Great v. Less Filling

I gotta run to the range and shoot the Glock and the M&P off the bench before it gets too hot out there....

  1. Why am I thinking of Lyle Lovett in "The Player," chanting "One of us, one of us"?

  2. Just wait until you get fully into alliance vs horde. Most wonderfully arbitrary example of tribalism I've ever seen.

  3. And there's always those wacky Dr. Pepper Wookies off on the sidelines.

  4. Chevy - Ford
    White - Black
    Democrat - Republican

There are divides all over the world.

As to guns, They all go bang. They can all have issues. Pick your price point and go for it.

  6. I liked this one as a pro-Glock rebuttal:

"Certain models of Glock handguns are the gold standard for firearm reliability - other models of Glock handguns are dangerously unreliable. I would stake my reputation, however small it may be, on this statement."

So, isn't that like saying, "All Fords are very safe cars. As long as you ignore Pintos that explode when rear ended, and Broncos that roll over when performing a minor emergency evasion maneuver. But really, all other Fords are really safe cars. If you pretty much just stick with a Mustang or F150."

I don't have a horse in this fight, I want to pick up a M&P 9L one of these days and send it over to Bowie Tactical for some work. But that's on the priority list below, more S&W 3rd gen autos, and more revolvers.

  7. 9mm v. .45

It don't really matter... pick one and learn to shoot it. You'll probably wind up with both anyway.

    .40's another story.

  9. My house is in an uproar. I have partaken of the M&P Koolaid, and I love them. The woman that tolerates me carries a Glock, but grudgingly admits that the Shield is a fine carry piece, and carries that when the Glock 19 is too large to hide under the clothes she is wearing that day.

Me? I own both, and I think that either is a fine choice. The complaints about trigger, reliability, and accuracy of both are nitpicks that most shooters really won't notice, but provide hours of gainful employment for gun magazine writers everywhere.

  10. Divemedic,

    "Me? I own both..."

As should be obvious from my post, me too.

"The complaints about trigger, reliability, and accuracy of both are nitpicks that most shooters really won't notice..."

I don't care about most shooters. Most shooters would never find out if their gun was engineered to crumble into dust on the 500th shot.

I do care that my M&P struggles to keep rounds on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper at 25 yards. Call that a "nitpick" if you'd like.

  11. I have Macs and PCs.

But neither and M&P nor a Glock (I'm not a carrier, and neither inspires me for shooting-for-fun).

  12. "Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort." - R.A.H.

Browning Hi-Power...to hell with all y'all.

  14. As for the Mac/PC debate, as much as I hate Mr Gates and Co, every time I need a new computer I look at Mac, but can't justify the extra cost. Even when you bake in the cost of anti-virus, etc. it still costs way less to pay the Gates tax.

But of course, it looks like Android will eventually win that argument. (A flavor or Unix - who would have guessed?)

Ugh. That's disconcerting. Any thoughts you can share as to the cause?

  16. M&P 9 accuracy issues are thought to be due to a marginally-too-slow twist rate and an engineering change that causes premature barrel unlocking (again a marginal condition; depends on the gun and the ammo).

The "fix" such as it is, is either 147 grain ammo or a third-party barrel.

Smith's refusal to acknowledge and fix the problem is positively, well, Glock-like :-P

  17. Macs are already running a flavor of Unix - but not Teh RulingParty Green Flavor apparently, and have therefore been banned in SanFrancisco!

  18. The big one with us truck guys, besides chevy vs ford vs dodge, is gas vs diesel.

Ehrmagerd you can go one about that crap all day and I've never once seen anyone change their mind.

I really get their knickers in a knot when I speak my piece, which is that it all depends on a bunch of different factors and driver preferences and that there is no one true answer.

And no, I don't have to choose. I own both.

  19. A lot like, for leverguns, Winchester vs. Marlin. I like both. Drives the Marlin snobs crazy.

  20. Horse people can be just as bad. Quarter Horses vs. Paints vs. BLM mustangs vs. how many gaited breeds.
