Sorry I'm late.

I stayed up late-ish playing World of Warcrack with mah peeps last night and then slept in this morning, since this is our nation's Wobbliest holiday: The day we celebrate our solidarity with the proletariat labor force of our great Rodina by acting like striking UAW members, lazing around and doing nothing. Which is more or less what I plan on doing today.

  2. This is my last week in the proletariat...My boss got fired and I'm starting in his old position in management later this week.

    I can't say I'll miss it.

  3. Ever tried out Lord of the Rings Online? It's free-to-play, or at least enough to get you hooked. For Tolkien fans, it's probably the closest you'll come to actually visiting Middle-Earth.

  4. Just the cherry on top of the progressive movement's, change in America. Now if they could get the name adjusted slightly, the United Socialist States of America, sounds about right.

  5. Commented on Facebook the other day that I've always been a bit squeamish about this holiday since it essentially celebrates the collectivist unions.

  6. I thought it was MayDay?
'Workers of the World Unite' and all that garbage?

  7. Ha! Labor Day? I'll be laboring at work. No union here.

  8. Since my employment requires that everyone pick a holiday they they will do coverage for, I've placed my permanent marker on Labor Day.

    I labor today.

The traffic was good this morning, however.

  11. At least the background music for Burning Crusade is good ( Pink Floyd had a hand in some of it ).

  13. Labor Day is the U.S. throwing a bone to those who would just as soon celebrate May Day as the International Workers' Day or the neo-pagan's Bealtaine as the mid-point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice.

Opposition to May Day celebrations started early in America:

  14. One of the advantages of running Linux everywhere is that WoW doesn't run on in. Neither does Netflix. Hulu is enough of a temptation and it does work well on Linux.

  16. My brother: What are you doing?

    Me: Downloading WOW.

    My brother: You play?

Me: No, but my friends sent me to get the free download of the first 12 or 20 levels or whatever.

My brother: [With urgency] These... these are not your friends.

There's a reason I keep a Winblows partition set up for dual booting with linux on my main computer. Well, not WoW, but other games*, plus iTunes (since it would take me a fscking month of burning and ripping CD's and then re-entering all the information into the resulting mp3's to switch to any other program - silly me, I had to go and be honest in the days before Amazon effectively drove DRM out of the non-pirated market).

    * Currently Star Trek Online and DC Universe Online, both of which are free-to-play.
