Talk about more than just the usual job worries to cloud the mood: Confidence among U.S. consumers dipped to its lowest point in December since July amid rising economic worries, according to a monthly index released Friday. The Big Recovery remains as elusive as always. This year's holiday spending orgy turned out to be more of a "holiday spending chaperoned date"...
Merry Christmas Tam!
ReplyDeleteNot only was the date chaperoned, but dinner was dutch treat.
Merry Christmas to Tam, Bobbie and the Kitties!
ReplyDeleteI always wonder just how much Stuff that was bought has been replacement items, and/or stuff like Kid's Clothes ("They Grow Up so Fast!").
And at least sales of Guns and Ammo are helping out.
Thank You, Santa Berry.
Just wait until the AR, AK & 30rd mag sales show up and BHO is up on the podium crowing about how well the economy is doing.
ReplyDeleteThe only people who aren't depressed about the economy are politicians and people who decided that we might as well "enjoy the decline," as the good Captain might say...
ReplyDeleteWhat I find the most troubling is the gubermints failure to report people who have run out of unemployment or people who can't get a job.
ReplyDeleteNo one wants to look behind that curtain. It would a percentage of work age people who are unemployeed and I'll SWAG the number at 20%
Gerry
On the plus side, I took the old jet boat out yesterday and made a run up hell's canyon on the snake river and had the river to myself. No one wants to afford the gas right now so it really cuts down on traffic. Selfish? Yes. But I am who I am.
ReplyDeleteThe only spending we did this year was on the Grandkids. That's not counting what we spent on reloading components. ;)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all.

Now THAT's putting the economic picture in terms I can relate to!
Yep. Except for the grandkids, it was gift cards and Universal Gift Certificates. (And I thought I'd let the granparents-in-law be the heroes this year.) But what little shopping I did do didn't show much in the way of the thundering herds of yesteryear.
Gunwise, I DID get meself a M57 Tokarev as a reward (consolation prize?) for turning sixty last week.
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to Tam, Bobbie and the Kittehs!
And all y'all readers too.
Thanks for the Free Ice Cream during the past year!
Malaise, Iowa.
ReplyDeleteJust east of Des Moines...
Merry Christmas! I'll have cookies for you after the fact. Barkley is sick with kennel cough (he was vaccinated for it but picked up a strain at doggie care this last week) We were up all night, and the vet got him fixed up this morning. He's now stoned dog on the flour with his cough meds but he ate and isn't hacking up a lung like he was last night.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be by in a few days after the storm passes. Thank you so much for you gift. Made me all girly blinky eyed. Big hug and one to Bobbie and Huck as well.
What pisses me is
ReplyDeleteA: The politicians(like Screamin'Dean who wants higher taxes on EVERYONE) keep saying "If we go over the fiscal cliff it will cause another recession; I want to know WHEN THE HELL DID WE GET OUT OF THE LAST ONE THAT'S STILL GOING ON?
B: The dirtbags who exempt gas and food from the index, and then claim "Inflation is not a problem."
And both wonder why so many of us would like to remove them from their office by defenestration.
Odd that the policies of 1934 aren't creating prosperity this time around.
ReplyDeleteBram, "that's because the right people aren't in charge!!"
ReplyDeleteNo wonder the liberals say that; it's FUN!
