Reminds me of Sen. Gillibrand of what used to be New York (now West Britain). NRA "A"rated while she was a State Senator, then when the DemaCommies needed another Politically Correct "Female" to take over Hillary's Spot, she Turned her Coat so fast you'd think you were in a Kansas Twister.
Gerry, they all are. What we really need is a house cleaning (Senate too). We need a couple million armed citizens to show up and drain the swamp with short pieces of rope. There are plenty of tall lamp post just sitting there doing nothing. Term limits, one way or another.
Repeal the 17th amendment. Watch the Senators actually care about the opinion of the state that put them there. First time a Senator gets recalled ten minutes after voting for the wrong thing they'll shape up. That'll break up both the national parties pretty quick.
Blue Dog Democrats are a myth. When the crunch comes they always vote for the party line. They are only allowed to deviate when it makes no difference to the final vote tally and provides them protective cover. Careful vote counting will determine exactly how many are permitted to "vote their conscience" without endangering a majority. They exist to camouflage the hard left progressive stance of the DNC and keep Joe Sixpack reflexive straight D voter from questioning why his party doesn't really represent him. You want to see what happens when a Democrat wanders off the plantation look to Joe Lieberman, who is otherwise a straight arrow doctrinaire lib in every aspect but his support for the GWOT. For that one transgression he was read out of the party, even though he still reliably caucuses with them on every other issue. And even though the Dems, now in power, have kept and even expanded all of the evil fascist things Smirkychimp W. McHitlerburton did.
Of course, the Repubs have their analogs as well, although the RNC is not nearly as top-down as the Donks are.
I'm pondering Ohioland's Gubernator, Kay-Sich (when running I pointed out it was the battle of the Icks. Kas-"ick" versus Str"ick"land...), the guy who voted "for" the 1994 Crime Bill because...he didn't have time to read it.
Not reading the bill! Long before that was cool to admit it. And now he runs my state!
Oh joy.
And Mayor McCheese in Columbus of course supports the "ugly gun and too many bullets ban"...is also against my right to sell my property without permission. Plus is a member of the Illegal Mayors Club...
No, I think the poster is right. Manchin has been promised something for his vote -- my best guess is not that he has been offered a position in this Administration (it would only last the next few years, anyway). No, what is likely is that BO offered to campaign with him, to share his voter and donor database, to share his (victorious) campaign consultants, and to steer gobs of federal money to WV. Manchin is angling to re-create the Robert Byrd formula: bring home the bacon, stay in power indefinitely. Since he is such a junior senator, he doesn't have the juice to pull it off. With a President backing, though, the sky's the limit.
Manchin doesn't need the pro-gun vote because BO has promised him the EBT/federal pork/union vote.
PakkinPapa, I'm worried more about "C-" Rated Former Senator, now State Attorney General Mike DeWine jumping on the Anti-Freedom Band Wagon. But something tells me that we here in BuckeyeLand are still pretty safe.
Which doesn't mean we turn a Blind Eye to them, either. Think "Keep Your Enemies Close and Your Friends Closer."
Bubblehead...I've been a little worried about that feller as well. He's never exactly been a friend to blaster owners...not an enemy, but not a complete friend.
A big part of me is glad he's no longer a Senatecritter...but at the same time Dee Cee was far away.
Not sure exactly which is the better alternative, though keeping him that close to wheels and levers of power is kind of disconcerting.
Hang on a sec while I get my tinfoil hat on straight ... OK:
Or he's not worried because he has been told that there will be some sort of national crisis that will lead to martial law/suspension of elections and if he votes right beforehand, he'll be loaded safely onto the ark before the SHTF.
Interesting. Look at the states up for Senate elections in 2014 and it's pretty obvious that even the Republicans will have a hard time losing the Senate, while probably gaining a few off-year votes in the House.
Also, those mostly rural and conservative states will see a lot more Tea Party and NRA influence in the picking of Republican candidates, so it's pretty obvious that whatever Barry does has to happen in this congressional year or the next. He (or his handlers) really doesn't give a flying fart in a rolling Kansas windstorm about anything that happens after the mid-term elections. It's all in the bag for the next 20 or so months, and he'll promise anything to anybody for the period after the mid-terms as long as thet deliver now.
So it looks like Manchin went and diddled himself. Since Charleton Heston did his magic for Bush2, the NRA and anybody promising more coal production has controlled the political dialog in WV, and all the Hollywood stars and DNC money in the world won't change that.
The sleezebag won despite being a Democrat, by claiming he was still a "Good Ol'Boy". Now the folks down there know you can't really be both, and the Democrat part always wins.
Look at his resume. He a professional politicion and just goes from one paid .gov job to the other.
ReplyDeleteSelf serving piece of crap.
Gerry

ReplyDeleteAll politics is local anyway, or should be.

Oh yeah. Saw that sort of stuff coming with him.
ReplyDeleteHow does that blade in the back feel WV? Why would anyone trust a Democrat on the 2nd Amendment? They are hostile to freedom in general.
ReplyDeleteLooks like WV will be getting 2 new Senators over the next 2 cycles.
"Smirkychimp W. McHitlerburton."
ReplyDeleteNow that's just funny right there...

"There won't be any events" makes me reach for the same tinfoil hat I did back when the NC governor spouted off about suspending elections.

So he's betting his entire career on Obama keeping a promise? It will be interesting to see how that works out.

I am SO glad I'm moving out of this state in a few months.
