Would it have mattered?

GOP loyalists say that a President Romney wouldn't be taking long showers with anti-gun groups right now like the current administration is.

Romney skeptics say that he'd be making kissy-face with them to show that he was a bipartisan uniter in the wake of the shooting spree.

I say it really doesn't matter since, even had he won the election, Romney wouldn’t have been president right now, anyway.

Instead, there would have been a lame duck sore loser outgoing administration with only a month left on the shot clock, and they would have taken time out of prying the “R” keys off every computer in the White House to do something especially childish and petty to gun rights on the way out the door.

  1. Worst alternate history discussion EVAR!

That's kind of like pondering if Courtney Kardashian had a sex tape instead of Kim.

  2. I much prefer the steam-powered britain versions, for sure.

  3. Ooo..then Romney could play the "that last guy...man he sure left a mess!" card forEVAH!! And he'd get to keep the regulations while maintaining his credibility! (Um...credibility...I'm snorting beverage all over my own screen...straight face?? No.)

The election is not the problem, the broken political culture/class is the problem.

    Or...I agree with TAM!

Oh that's EASY contrafactual history, people would be paying not see it.

No, you've got them mixed up. Kourtney is the hot one. You're thinking of Khloe.

(Wife makes me watch way too much of their show, and the only way to survive is to compare their relative levels of physical appearance)

  6. I started to go with Khloe, but then I realized there's a BIG difference there. 80

  8. It's not really loyalist, rather its more a question of pragmatics.

While I love to live in the idea that we deserve the people we vote for, the truth is that we usually end up electing the guy that least offends our ideals

You can call that "loyalist" but I'm gonna stick with calling it "acting like a grown up"

  9. OK, who are these Kardashian people and why does anyone really care? Don't they know American Idol is on?

    Priorities people.

  10. For that matter, would it really have mattered if one of the other 'pubs from that dog 'n pony primary was elected? Right now Christie is sucking up to his new bff angling for what, a cabinet post?

It's all just a game for personal gain, and if they have to stand on the corpses of a few sweet innocent children to get what and where they want, so be it.

  11. I have to admit, this was the one corner of the internets I never expected to see a discussion of the relative hotness of the Sisters Kardashian.

  12. No matter what he said or did, if Romney was about to be sworn into office he'd getting raped in the media for not being for gun control (even if he took, or promised to take, the same actions Obama has and is being praised for).

  13. Alternative history it is. Only way we will know is if Romney breaks his silence. Any bets on that and if so which way.

  14. I think that's one of the most optimistic posts I've ever seen from you Tam... :p

  15. Remember all of the Easter Eggs Clinton left for Dubya? My favorite was signing a completely unworkable and unjustifiable arsenic reduction mandate on the way out the door.

Then Dubya got to be the "OMG HE PUT ALL THE ARSENIC BACK IN TEH WATER!!!" President.

  16. Good catch on this being prior to Inauguration Day. :)

The one good thing about BHO being President is that he polarizes gunowners. If the President was some dude* wearing an elephant jersey, the prevailing feeling among average gunowners (as opposed to the "gunny" crowd here) would be much closer to, "Fear not! Elephant Man will save us!"

As for Romney specifically, I just don't know. The guy has more positions than a wind sock. He would do whatever he thought would please the most people while telling each side what they wanted to hear.

    * I say "dude" because there hasn't been a serious female Presidential contender (unfortunately) on the Republican side. No sexism intended or implied.

Sadly, this is entirely too true. God help us.

  18. Now if McCain had won, I think we'd be experiencing the same great wailing and nashing of teeth we see today.

McCain is no friend of anyone but McCain.

  19. After Clinton did his silly shit with the keyboards, the Bush admin put those PCs in a storage room, and had his staff buy IT gear out of their own pockets.

All of that IT gear went home with its owners.

Obama got a Whitehouse with no PCs or networking gear, except for the broken shit Clinton's staff left, and a single manila envelope from Bush.

Mr. Romney can't be reached for comment. He is too busy doing the backstroke in his vault of gold coins.

Romney failed to make the sale. So he doesn't get to drink any coffee ( play statesman ). Coffee is for closers.

If he has cash stashed, then good for him, because his political career is kinda over.

Sorry, I wasn't watching political stuff at the time, what'd Clinton do? Thanks!
