At least it takes my mind off the nose.

When the doc was suturing the graft site (back along the right corner of my jaw and running up toward the hairline) closed, he was tugging so hard it was like he was lacing a corset; I half expected him to brace his foot against my ear for better leverage.

Thankfully I was pumped full of enough lidocaine to let you tattoo The Last Supper with Fat Elvis as the guest of honor on the flank of a sleeping rhino, so all I felt was a disturbing amount of yanking and pulling this way and that.

The end result of this, however, is that I've been walking around for two days feeling like my grandmother's ghost is pinching my right cheek 24/7.

  4. Wisdom teeth pulled and all you hear is the cracking noise. A little disconcerting.

  5. I remember that tugging, but it was from being sewn up after having a cyst removed from my shoulder.

    It was just too weird.

  7. The graft they used on me was taken from on top of my left collarbone. I've a couple of doctors since then go "what the heck happened there?"

  9. Is that ghost of a grandmother pinching your cheek reminding you to wear a big, floppy hat out in the sun?

Be well! It sounds like you are already healing.

  11. Ah, yes. My Aunt Frances was one of those cheek-pinchers. I finally had enough one day, and told her that I was now a grown man, and that if she did it one more time I would call the cops and bring charges. She never tried it again.

  12. The only ones who actually 'brace their feet' are the orthopods. I haven't, thankfully, had to have the gentle ministrations of their sledge-hammers and crowbars, but I have had them pop a shoulder and a knee back in and it really is a little disconcerting when they put a knee on your chest to get a 'bit better leverage'.

Not that you needed it but did they charge extra for the free (one sided?) facelift? Just think in forty years you'll be the only lady with half a face free of wrinkles - glass half full remember!
