Food Break.

Walked to Fat Dan's with Brigid; Bobbi met us there on the larger of her penny-farthings. (Pennies-farthing?)
You'd maybe get more attention on a baby elephant. Maybe.
The dining experience was wonderful in all its casual ambiance, with a sheet of butcher paper for your plate and tray and a roll of brown paper towels by way of napkins. The food is like getting invited over to a friend's backyard cookout, assuming your friend can really really cook and doesn't spare expenses on the raw ingredients.

Yes, that's the 'small' fries...
I had the Reuben again; they corn their own beef and the result is delicious. If you're ever in SoBro, give them a try.

  1. I love the bike. What size wheel is that? Looks to be about 36".

    Who made it?

  2. It's a 36" wheel, made by QU-AX (or Quax) in Germany. Here. The North American importer is Goudurix in Quebec, very nice people to deal with. It costs as much as a decent commuter bike.

The little basket is from Portland Design Works, and a very good match for the bike. Amazon had them at a lower price when I bought mine and may still.

  3. Wouldn't that be a ha'penny farthing then?

  4. Harrumph. Nope; the rear wheel is scaled appropriately.

  5. Makes me want to take a nap after just looking at it, let alone eating it!

There's a great little Italian deli not far from who make their own pastrami.

    Best I've ever had!

  8. I never knew smoked corned beef was such a SPAM comment attractor. Good to know.

Thanks for a fun day! Barkley gives it all two paws up.

  9. Wow. Getting spammed with a single malt scotch comment, that kinda takes the cake, don't it?

Which reminds me, I should try something other than filtered tap water for my own Snow Belt Sour Mash next time...

  10. Love the bike.
Need a nap after looking at lunch.
Prefer being yelled at by Captain Caps Lock only slightly to reading spam.

  11. Matt, I don't know the background, but I've read Tam comment there's a reason for Navigator's internet equivalent of screaming.
Tam's words of tolerance are good enough for me.

As for a confab of those 3 ladies, I can only imagine how entertaining it would be. (Much disappointment in Cap'n Jack and Matt Smith, though, given the gals and the other candidates, Mal and Daniel Craig.)

  12. You got it, anon, it's pretty worth enough for us, too.

  13. Buzz,

"Matt, I don't know the background, but I've read Tam comment there's a reason for Navigator's internet equivalent of screaming.

    "

Let's just say that if some of the people who comment on it knew why Navigator typed in all caps, they'd feel about six inches tall.

  14. Centimeters, actually.
    Millimeters.
    Microns.
    Angstroms.

I came back to delete my comment, but it has been recognized and responded to, so it will stand as a testament to my embarrassment.

But I here retract the comment, and apologize to Navigator, and all Tam's readers.

  15. I'll bet dining at Fat Dan's is worth the ambulance ride to the cardiac ward.
