The Climes, They Are A-Changin'...

As part of the hippieflage on the Subie, I cynically sprang for the special Indiana "Environment" license plate, partly out of fear that they'd issue one anyway because clapped-out green Forester and partly because I found out part of the proceeds go to helping DNR arrange deer culls, but I was wrong to be cynical about the power of wishing really hard about environment-type things. Look! The license plate worked! The seas are receding even as we speak!

  1. The snow on the bumper gives it a badonkadonk look too.

  3. I've been dodging the snow and ice for the last couple of weeks. I'll be going around the Indy freeway loop on my way elsewhere today. I'll keep an eye out for a green Subaru.

  5. Yeah, enough with Winter already. It makes range time less enjoyable.

We Spring forward so there's sufficient after work daylight and now it's miserably cold.

  11. Good thing you didn't get the special Obama plate, or the Subie'd be beneath a glacier by now.

  14. Anonymouse 2:51,

I am certain that the climate is changing. It always has been, so it would be a bit weird if it stopped.

I am also fairly certain that human beings have had an effect on the Earth's climate. We've been homosapiensforming the planet for... what? Twelve thousand years now?

I just question how much Late 20th Century Western Consumer Self-Loathing has really affected the global climate vis a vis, say, millennia of goats eating every plant in the Levant, or solar output.

  16. Amen,Tam.

Only a fool wouldn't believe anthroposculpting has an effect and more of us means more effect, but only a bigger fool subscribes to the "sky is falling" mentality that simultaneously ignores all the inputs far more powerful, lasting, and cyclic than a large troop of baboons rubbing sticks together.

  20. Hey, and in the summer, by actual eyewitness reports, those environmental vanity plates keep elephants from roosting in the trees.

    You could look it up.
