Arms Room Preview...
Stop! Hammer time!
(Actually they're not hammers; just external cocking indicators for the striker mechanism. That's right: American-made striker-fired pistols with double-stack magazines... in 1907. But that's for tomorrow...)
Reminds me of something else I learned about the new IDPA rulebook tonight.
Instead of unload and show clear, slide forward, hammer down, holster commands that SOs have been giving forever to end a stage now it's unload and show clear, slide forward, pull the trigger, holster.
I assume everyone with enough sense to shoot the game has sense enough to know that "hammer down" means release striker for guns without exposed hammers. So, why'd they have to go and change it?
Wow, I just recently acquired a 1907 .32 myself, that came with paperwork documenting it a war trophy brought back from Vietnam. If only it could talk....

Oddly enough the gun in the car full of gangsters in the case I tried yesterday was a late model Savage .32.

ReplyDeleteI have had lot's of folks who shoot Sigs or Berettas de-cock instead pulling the trigger. De-cocking does not show if the pistol is unloaded.
The loud noise after pulling the trigger lets everyone know it was not.
