It's still not legal to beat someone's head in in Florida...

...just because they looked at you funny.

Not Guilty.

  2. "Not guilty!" Of murder or manslaughter anyway.

"Wonder how soon the smoke and flames will start..." As soon as the all-Zimmerman-all-the-time coverage now in process can gin it up, I mean they have to get something out of this, right?

  3. Oh, thank God.

Anyone want to start the clock on when the Federales will go after Zimmerman for civil rights violations now that the Murder-2 railroading has failed?

ANY conviction here would have had chilling effects on right to self defense. As it is, this shit has already ruined the lives of Zimmerman and his wife, messed seriously with the careers of police Bill Lee and Chris Serino, plus that IT guy Cruidbos, and probably put the jurors and witnesses in harm's way. Good for the brave jurors, by the way.

An unintended* consequence of this racially-driven show trial is that the next time some black person IS killed by a racist asshole out to get a black guy, it will be harder to get anyone to take it seriously thanks to this travesty.

*Though maybe not unintended. For those cynical scum who make their living off of exacerbating racial strife this is actually a win.

  4. Yeah, I'm thinking this is going to get pretty ugly in the days ahead. Noise over on Twitter indicates a lot of hotheaded idiots working themselves up to "Festivities."

Keep your guns loaded & close at hand...

  5. Florida State's Attorney's Office IT guy Ben Kruidbos is now former IT guy Ben Kruidbos, as he was fired:

So, what I want to know is, when is selective prosecution of someone based on his race while the prosecution withholds evidence considered a violation of the defendant's civil rights?

  6. The FBI already did a civil rights investigation and didn't find anything. Not that I'd put it past Holder but that would be a pretty blatant reversal to file something now.

I was worried about an all female jury.

  9. I am surprised (and relieved, for the concept of self-defense) by the verdict.

  10. Glad the facts and the rule of law actually won out (for now)...

  11. Actually I thought the all woman jury worked out well for the defense. Thought so from the beginning. Opinion pretty split on the race divide not the gender divide
