Fun Show Time!

Let's sing the Fun Show Song!
Flintlocks and Flop-tops
And Number Three Russians
Black-powder Mausers
From jackbooted Prussians,
Shiny Smith PC's from limited runs
These are a few of my favorite guns.

Socketed bay'nets
On Zulu War rifles,
Engraved, iv'ried Lugers
That make quite an eyefull
Mosin tomato stakes sold by the ton
These are a few of my favorite guns.

Rusty top-breaks!
Smallbore Schuetzens!
And all of Browning's spawn
I just keep on browsing my favorite guns
Until all my money's gone.
Looking for ball ammo in 9mm or .357SIG*, maybe a switchblade, and of course any exceptionally cheap & tatty top-break Smiths.

*Good discussion going on re: The NCHP and their M&P 357 complaints here. Anybody who knows someone inside that can give better detail than the PIO knucklehead's "extractor port" is encouraged to chime in. The earlier sear bounce issue is pretty well documented, but it gets vague from there, leading me to wonder if this isn't that they fell out of love with the guns over that and now are getting the four year itch...

  1. Best of luck. There's a show on the opposite end of the metro area from me today but my budget is FUBAR and I hope to do the fill process for our pool (new liner) today.

I gotta get some clutter up on eBay or I'll never have the money to get a .44 before October 6th.

  2. Our fun show was last weekend. No new boomsticks this time, but I bought Dad a new pocketknife (a CRKT Ignitor) for his birthday, and got one for myself while I was at it (a CRKT Endorser).

AR prices seem to continue coming down, albeit slowly, and ammo prices are still up.

  3. I picked up 250 rounds of nine to replace what I burned at the match plus a bit more. I also got a hundred rounds of .357SIG Ranger 125gr Bonded and fifty of Speer Lawman frangibles.

And a book from my friends at the book table!

  4. Glad you found some consumables at a presumably decent price. Speaking as a guy whose shooting is done photographically, I see it like buying film (smart, hone your skills) rather than another camera (one step closer to being a hoarder - shudder).

This (well, Saturday) morning I made it to my favorite thrift store and was tempted by chrome-nose breech mount (Canon FD) 50/1.4. But it was part of a set with an FTb body plus two other lenses I didn't want and they wre unwilling to break up the set. Money being tight this month due to an evolving family "medical situation" I had to pass. Also passed on a pretty clean New England Firearms Company Pardner SB1 12-gauge for $45 at an estate sale (was that stupid?) but broke down and picked up a clean and fully-functional Yashica 124 TLR for fifty bucks at the quasi-local camera shop. There was a mint 124G for 5x the price, but seeing as I wanted a shooter rather than a shelf queen I'm pretty happy.

  6. My local ChinaMart has easily one hundred boxes of Nine. American Eagle, Remington, Winchester, and even Tula.

Still is a limit of 3 boxes per person per day.

The People Watching plus being a mere five minute walk away with stroller and 4 year old Miniature Human makes it worthwhile.

Nooooo .22 (except the Magnum from CCI, which at 13.50 is about a dollar less than a box of 50 Nine Millimeters), that all sold out two Saturdays ago.

    Secret Code: anbyar 9.

New clone of the CZ-75 from Turkey, is that not?
