Initial picture of the Webley .32 Automatic is up. Still researching the wee beastie, so there's plenty more to follow on that thing.
This one is not Metropolitan Police marked, and probably dates to 1909, predating the acquisition of self loaders by the London po-po by a couple of years.
Nice find! That's definitely a pre-WWI example.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the seller, the story that came with the gun is that the guy who sold it to him claimed that his pop had carried it in the trenches as a WWI Tommy.
ReplyDeleteNeither he nor I were willing to pay extra for the story, but it's cool nonetheless, and the pistol's of a vintage that it could be true. :)
