Watching Law & Order at 0530 local...
Exposed to the yellow sun of the Mountain Time Zone, Hoosier Tam gains the super power of Waking Up Early With No Alarm Clock.
— Tamara K. (@TamSlick) October 13, 2013
My bladder awoke me at 04:00 Central. I tried for an hour to get back to sleep. Finally gave up, got up, had coffee then fitted the XS Sights front sight blade to the Winchester 94 before the rest of the family got up.
I have to go to Vegas for work every few years. Likewise LA. Suddenly I go from night owl to morning person.
The good news is that it keeps me from getting much jet lag. The bad news is that it's completely useless because nothing fun happens in Vegas at 5 in the morning. The only people awake are the gambling addicts and a few hotel employees.
Time Zone Slippage Syndrome is more common than you'd think. One of my friends obviously belongs in the ocean 1 zone west of California. My SIL is a real tragedy. She needs to be living in Hawaii.
As a Carolinian bred, born and raised, it took me years to get used to Central Time here in Texas. Visits to Mountain and Pacific Times still leave me wanting to eat breakfast in the dark. And when I did business in Taiwan, Japan and Korea I always had to make sure I was discussing the same day and date with the home office, lest "two day from now" occur a day late or early, depending on who said what.
I had a week between when I got out of my Sophomore semester of college and when I shipped off to bootcamp, so I went to my parent's house in New Orleans & got in the habit of waking up at 7am every morning before heading to San Diego.
That is a super power now? Nobody tells me anything.
ReplyDeleteThat was always my "kryptonite".

Going back east against the time zones can be a bitch, though.
