When The Balloon Goes Up!, they're trying to put together some data on CCW gun choices that can be used to help newcomers with the process of carry gun selection. There's
a little survey about your choice of carry gat. It's anonymous, and it took me less than a minute to fill in just now.

ReplyDeleteOK, I was helpful.
ReplyDeleteOk, done!
ReplyDeleteSurveyed!
ReplyDeleteDone and a mental poke in the ribs that I've not had a range day with my CCW guns in awhile.
ReplyDeleteBeen spending too much time with IDPA guns. Those spend most of their time on a night stand or "carried" in a vehicle console.
Done, but with a note that I can only OC right now. Dang paperwork, some day I'll get to the sheriff's office.
ReplyDeleteI find the survey a bit off-putting. For example the question "male or female" seems to imply that some guns will better for women and some for men.
ReplyDeleteThis brings back (bad) memories of being an NRA pistol instructor, and telling husbands that the .22 revolver they bought for the 'little lady' might not have been the best choice.
Tam, You and I are both 6ft (or so). (5ft 12 inches tall in my stocking feet) 1911s make sense. I love my 357, though I never tried to conceal it. I have carried .380s, 9mm and .45s. The difference being that it is sometimes hard to conceal a weapon when dressed for a Florida summer.
The best gun you can use is the one that fits your hand, has enough ballistic energy to have some hope of being effective (usually called stopping power, but that leads to the 9mm vs .45 vs .40 vs whatever debate.)
First choice is to live somewhere that allows you to carry .
