The Hun

I don't think there needs to be a reason to put up a picture of an F-100C Super Saber.

  2. No reason at all. I bet you'd like these two Planes on Sticks sites if you haven't seen them already

  3. Hard to believe that the first supersonic service fighter saw much of its service as a wild weasel. Such a neat airplane.

  5. Fully agree.

And is that a B-25 Mitchell photobombing the shot off to the right there?

  7. A classic. I've always loved the F-100.

  9. One of my favorite planes. I wanted to fly one, but the doctors said no. (eyes)

The 104 was another great one. The plane that tried to kill Chuck Yeager.

  10. Interesting tidbit, the last pilot of that particular Hun was Neil Armstrong.

  11. Back in the day one of the best models I ever built was a F-100 in Viet Nam camo. Dang I was proud of it.

Now that my kids are grown and gone...have more time on my hands...I'm starting to get the hankering to build models again. This would be a good first...

  13. If I could own any jet fighter for fun purposes, it would be a Hun... or an A-4...

  14. The biography of USAF Colonel John Boyd (1927-1997) had more than a few interesting things to say about Boyd's opinion of the F-100 and some other topics.

  15. I spent two years of my young life working on F100 D models. At Myrtle Beach AFB S.C. and in Aviano AB in northern Italy. Always been my favorite jet aircraft after that.
I have a model I built of a D model with an airman moving the wing slats, just like I did almost 50 years ago.
