$#!+ Gunsmith Bob Says...

Me: "Team Conservative didn't exactly cover themselves in glory in the historical knowledge department regarding Mandela..."

Gunsmith Bob: "I didn't accuse him of [necklacing people]; I just said he was a communist!"

Me: "Yeah, but the other night you accused Krauthammer and George Will of being communists."

GB: "If the shoe fits! ...'designated hitter', my ass..."

*long pause*

GB: "No, wait, I take that back. I've read George Will's baseball books, but I can't recall if he supports the Designated Hitter Rule or not, so we don't want to go too far with accusations. But he's still a communist."

  1. That's some real Inside baseball stuff right there. And a mark of a true fan. "we don't want to go too far with accusations. But he's still a communist."

  3. I like it. I tend to put people into three groups: Commies, idiots, and people who are OK but need to be watched lest they turn into commies or idiots.

That classification actually seems to be working out pretty well.

  4. Invoking Godwin, shouldn't that be the Designated Hitler rule?

    ;-)

  5. As for George Will's views concerning the abomination known as the designated hitter, he apparently was for it before he was against it.

  6. At first, I thought that *was* the "Designated Hitler" rule he was talking about, Peter... ;)

  8. Mandela was a communist to the same degree that Bill Clinton is a Baptist.

Whether Mandela, or the Baptists, you lay down with dogs sooner or later you get fleas. Mandela led the ANC, the Commies fed them guns and money. It walked like a duck, quacked and shat like a duck. May as well call it one.

  10. isn't Gunsmith Bob responsible for this gem: I believe in..."the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Mandela or the Baptists, you lay with dogs sooner or later you get fleas. Mandela led the ANC. The Commies paid and supplied the ANC. Mandela walked, quacked and shat like a duck. That's Commie enough for me.....And the results in Africa since speak for themselves.

    Oh, my.

Bull Durham. One of the greatest movies ever. Costner should be prohibited from making anything but Baseball movies.

  14. As Tam mentioned he didn't go the full Mugabe.

Which given what he *could* have done in office speaks of restrained.

    So there's that.

  15. Costner did ok in Tin Cup. Mandela is the best type of communist. Who is George Will?

  16. Well, George isn't the best type of author.
