Cargo Cult Carry Handle

Jon Frum have carry handle on carbine. Jon Frum see in dark and kill many opponents.”
Besides, it’s not like you need to be able to use the gun’s actual irons while you’re holding it over your head and Allahu akhbaring at the other team, or shooting kneeling prisoners in the back of the head.

  1. It likely still goes bang every damn time the trigger is pulled, until the mag is empty, and it's easier to replace the forend and stock to spiff it up than to clean the darn thing.

  2. There is a lot of product in Jihadi Joe's hair. Are we sure this isn't just a profile pic from okcupid.sy?

  3. What's gecko45 doing in Iraq? And why is there an oddly-shaped bayonet pointing backwards?

  4. Not to encourage his behavior, but it does look that carry handle is offset to the side so the sights still work.

I doubt he knows what a sight picture is tho....

  5. It looks like someone riveted an airsoft A2 handle to the dust cover.

Oh well, at least he isn't wearing an orange life preserver, or carrying a feather duster.

  7. During my last tour in Iraq, post security was provided by a contractor who hired people from central African nations. Ugandans, Nigerians, Congolese, you name it.

They were variously armed. At one post - the post where I'd spent my first tour - I discovered on a visit there that the security guys all had AK74s that had the rear sight removed.

I don't know what bothered me more about that - the idea that they weren't able to aim their weapons properly because it lacked a rear sight, or the idea that the weapon lacked a rear sight because they weren't able to aim their weapons properly.

Ganesha be praised, they never had to use 'em when I was there.

  8. You know, for me the carry handle was always the least useful feature of the M16 platform, and when Uncle Sam went to a flat top design it was a positive step.

I don't know how today's troops are trained, but in my day (late Jurassic, or '75-'79) we never used the handle. I was specifically taught, if needing to carry to M16 one handed, to tuck my thumb inside the handle and wrap my fingers around the receiver just in front of the mag well. Much better control and more likely to keep the muzzle downrange.

  12. He ascribes to the Inshalla school of marksmanship. I doubt he needs anything better in the way of sights.

Apparently this is a California-legal rifle; no pistol-grip, and while the article called it a slant muzzle brake, the armaments experts in Sacramento doubtless deemed it a flash-hider, so with the detachable magazine, that would be two scary gun features and therefore streng Verboten in the PRK.
