It was the "Kick Me" sign that did it.

I normally don't engage these kids because, to be perfectly frank, I could post a picture of poop and get more retweets than Shannon's organization has members*, but the retort was too obvious to pass up...

*Like most of these anti-gun astroturf organizations, they're well bankrolled and persistent with press releases, and so draw a lot of notice from a sympatico media, but when it comes time to put meat in seats, they just don't have the Wheaties. There'll be more people at the Friday Night Steel match at MCF&G next week than have ever attended any "anti gun rally" in Indianapolis, and probably by a factor of three or four.

  1. I'd say that Shannon is worth every penny of her salary.

  2. That's going to leave a mark.

    Well done.

  3. If she isn't getting paid "a salary", what is she getting paid for? BLOWJOBS?

  4. Her group is kind of the political version of the those overpriced little botiques in the expensive parts of town where wives of the rich pretend they are business owners.

  5. I don't believe her. She is the head of this AstroTurf group and since it's proven that she didn't start it just because she cares, she's got to be getting some cheese from someone.

  7. Wayne and the NRA also provide a product that people WANT.

    Not a shrieking harpy...

  8. Joe: I see what you did there!

Or... were you unaware of the art gallery she used to run?

Also Shanon continues the trend of trolling years back in the archives of old websites.

Given her CV/resume, if she's not getting any cheese out of this I'd be surprised.

Also, I thought Everytown wasn't about banning guns!

  9. Shannon Watts lives in Indianapolis. Invite her to brunch and a range session. Turn her heart, or turn her stomach.

  10. Ed,

    "Shannon Watts lives in Indianapolis."

    Not really, no, but close.

  11. Maybe her 'Salary" is based on Results??? In which case she is getting paid the appropriate amount. If not she needs to hit Bloomberg up for a raise

  12. Wait... She wants the warm glow of Doing Something Selfless For the Children (TM) AND she wants to be paid for it??? Doesn't the one sort of cancel the other?

  14. I just pulled the IRS 990 for the NRA for 2012.

    Wayne was paid $833,312

Someone check my math, but I don't think that's "millions"

(of course, she could refer to the total amount paid over his lifetime, but someone who flips burgers for $10/hr will make a little over a million over their working lifetime so that can't possibly be what she means, right?")

  15. Bloomberg and his ilk can only understand a top down organization. They see the NRA and think that's all there is to the gun lobby. The idea that millions of unorganized citizens hold to the same beliefs and self organize when they think it's needed just doesn't exist for them.

Everything is top down. Wayne LaPierre is just an analogue to Michael Bloomberg. Shannon sees Tam and immediately thinks she's facing her mirror image, another paid shill.

  16. Steve Skubinna,

"They see the NRA and think that's all there is to the gun lobby."

    But, I'm the NRA.

  17. Yow. That's the kind of comeback that makes bystanders wince & get four or five syllables out of a four letter word.
