Fifty more rounds of TulAmmo 115gr FMJ. No malfunctions. Had fun shooting the plates from 15 yards (I had to move the table back; I think the people before me were shooting steel from about the seven yard line, which is just a little more daring than I like to be.)
This makes eight hundred rounds in the notebook. I should add that, other than taking it apart and lubing it when I purchased it, the pistol has not been cleaned or lubricated since. I said before that I'm not doing any kind of "torture test", and I'm not. Not many pistols get frozen in blocks of ice and then run over with a tank before being thrown out of a helicopter, but lots of guns do get neglected...
.
Shooting steel from 7 yards, is entirely too much like repelling boarders while inside your tank!
ReplyDeleteEye protection becomes even more important.
I just can't shake that it looks like a Hi-Point.
ReplyDeleteAnd were they to make a smaller one (G19 equivalent), I would look very, very seriously at it for purchase and carry...
And realistically, even "torture tests" that are just seeing how high you can get your round counts between cleanings without a malfunction aren't that real world either.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I'm not "torture testing" it. But if a gun can't go 1k or more rounds between cleanings, that's something I'm personally interested in knowing. A thousand rounds is just a busy weekend class.
ReplyDeleteTam, could you see your Boberg being a main everyday carry gun for you?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a Boberg. I've contemplated buying one for use as a BUG/wintertime coat pocket gun.
ReplyDeleteHow do your splits compare between the Walther and M&P? Obviously you have more trigger time on this Smith, but still curious.
ReplyDeleteI need to shoot the Walther on the clock some. Now I'm curious, too.
ReplyDeleteThat grip texture is very artistic!
ReplyDeleteSteel inside 10 yards is a violation of club rules at my range.
ReplyDeleteIt's also a "you're done for the day" offense in IDPA.
Hopefully those there before you had some stands and some paper.
Not bad, but it's still no Makarov.
ReplyDeleteAntibubba
Boberg in John Browning's 45 ACP can't kick much worse than an AMT Back-up in the same caliber
ReplyDeleteWas looking at these at the fun show today, Mrs Drang has been looking at more up to date carry pieces than her Stars, and the LCR and LCP just aren't enjoyable for her to shoot.
ReplyDeleteHow thick is that double-stack grip? How does it compare to, say, a standard 1911?
