Automotif XLV...
'48 or '49 Willys-Overland Jeepster
Visible from the Monon Trail just south of 54th Street is this yellow Willys-Overland Jeepster, a fine product of Toledo, Ohio. Perhaps it has Go Devil power!
The red roofline visible through the Willys cabin belongs to an MGB-GT that has been there a while. .
My grand dad had one of those. That was in the 70's so he decided to regrind the cam so he could squeeze and extra mile or two from the 302 engine in the thing.
Would have like to have gotten it when he was done with it, by my uncle sold it before we even knew it was for sale.
Oh well....Is the MG percolating around as a replacement for something?
I learned to drive a stick in my Dad's Jeepster. The quarters were all rusted out, so Dad and I cut and shortened the body to make a truck with a wooden bed. It was hell trying to start that torquey V6, on a gravel hill, with all the weight over the rear wheels replaced by air. Dad said I wasn't ready until I could start without burning the clutch or throwing a single rock.
I saw your various car postings and I was thinking more of something like this, and then I go and miss when this post occurred. Late as usual, story of my life.
