Blog Stuff: Fall is in the air...

VFTP Command Central isn't exactly palatial; instead of central heat & air, I get by with a big window A/C unit and a baseburner-type propane heater.

When we had the propane tank topped off a month or two ago, I cut my pilot light on but left the thermostat turned down to the lowest setting. I arrived home to my darkened crib last night to see the eerie glow of blue flames in the corner announcing that it was a mite chilly in here. Time to break out the comforter for the bed...

  1. Waddaya mean, you turned the heater on? A mite chilly? Aren't you living in the South? Isn't it supposed to be Indian Summer and warm right now? I thought I'd come to a place warmer than Germany in Sept/Oct. Should I better bring my warm clothes? ;-)

  3. I must admit that as I've gotten older, autumn has easily surpassed the other seasons as my favorite. I happen to like that little bit of chill in the air, and the windows open with that wonderful fall smell. We can usually count on getting at least a few weeks worth of decent weather here in Kansas at this time of year, and it is a welcome thing, straddling three months of triple digit baking and the freezing canuck winds coming from Canada.

Football and chili. Can't beat it.

  4. I'm having cold-envy. It was almost ninety today in Dallas. And that's seeming cool, sadly.

  5. Have had 2 beautiful days - bright sun, low (for Florida) humidity. But I can already tell at 7:30 AM that I will have to turn the air conditioning back on today.

  6. 18" of snow in the last week up here in Vail. I've got the windows out on the jeep and forgot to put the cover on last night, spent the last hour pull snow out of the interior. Doh!
