"Speaker Pelosi"

Looks like the Dems have locked up the House. Not like nobody saw this coming.

It's funny, because I'm reading The Elephant In The Room right now: If anybody thinks that this is the almost inevitable end result of the complete collapse of the "Republican Revolution" of '94, Iraq or no Iraq, raise your hands. Yeah, me too. Twelve years of GOP control of Congress and not a thing to show for it but some tax cuts and a spot of welfare reform, and a Democrat president got all the credit for the latter. Enjoy the fruits of alienating your base, RINOs.

On further rumination: I've worked in a gun store during the passage of the '94 Assault Weapons Ban, the eve of Y2K, and 9/11, so I'm ready. Coal Creek employees new to this gig, on the other hand, are probably in for a bit of a shock, because I'm predicting a Christmas season filled with a spectacular amount of panic buying. Get those .50 Cals and Evil Black Rifles now, kiddies. While you still can...

Truer words were never writ. If the Republicans had governed as such, Iraq wouldn't have resulted in what happened last night. Those responsible for GOP defeat can most quickly be found in the nearest Capitol Hill mirror.

  2. Yeah, I think I'm going to have to put in an order for that DSA SA58 I've been putting off...

Do it. You'll laugh at the price you're paying now versus 10 years from now. It's worth the comedic value.

Tam, am I wrong here? What was a pre'94 AR with that standard trim going for then as compared to now?

  6. Magazines and receivers are where it's at.

  7. Spend your money on some lowers, and hope they're grandfather'd in.
Hi cap mags are probably a good investment too. I suspect I've gotten my final reason for ditching The Peoples Republic of Maryland for Virginia.

  8. Some of you are making the assumption that there WILL be a gradfather clause in AW Ban 2.0. I can't look up sources here at work but I do remember a few of the major gun-grabbing people stating the next AW ban won't have the loopholes in it the first one did. I believe that one of the top gun grabbers made mention of " no grandfathering " any of the guns that were part of the original or any of the ones made after the ban - again, I'm at work and can't look it up.

There will be a buying spree on this stuff but will it be legal if the Dem's get there way? Don't know. On Kim's site in the comments section, there is a guy that believes that we ( as gun owners ) have lost only 1.5 to 2 seats, as far as pro-gun people. Maybe we'll luck out and new legislation might not make it anywhere. ( Sorry to sound negative - it's the nature of my beast! )

  9. Unfortunately, I live in CaliPORNia. Can't get .50 cal. out here without the girlie-men getting their panties in a knot up in Sacramento.

When I get back on my feet, I'll move the family to New Hampshire/Vermont or Virginia. Wherever the food's better.

  10. Don't forget to stock up on 8-inch PVC pipe and fittings, kids, while you can still buy them without a background check.

What ya figure, the value of your gun collection (accumulation) just doubled, or halved??

  11. Not to sound overly cynical, but there's a strong reason why my "long-term investment" guns are all S&W revolvers and antique bolt-action rifles...

  12. If Joe is right and AW Ban 2.0 carries a "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in" clause, on the date that bill becomes law, I become an outlaw. I will state it here and on my own blog clearly: Molon Labe.

    I'm serious.

  13. I'm thinking that a "turn them in" scheme won't work, simply because it retroactively makes something illegal, and I believe that is called a "bill of attainder" or ex post facto, in lawyerese, which is prohibited in Article 1 of that important document, methinks.

I could be wrong. Any lawyers out there? Buehler?

  14. I'm with Kevin.

The Internet is much too public to talk about how I really feel.

  15. Does anyone have, or know where to get, a video clip of DiFi doing her 'turn them all in' speech?
I think it'ud be both a keeper and a grim reminder , especially if another Katrina/LA'uprising'-type event happens.
    Thanks in advance

  16. I expect the dems to go for what they call "common sense" gun control, which means harsh gun bans but will be called something nice and fuzzy my the media.

I also expect the NRA and other gun-rights groups to mobilize like never before in anticipation of 2008.

    Just like 1994.

Go ahead, Pelosicrats, go for our guns again. The AWB did more to put the GOP in charge in 1994 than any other issue.

2006 wasn't a mandate. It was a correction. It flushed out some GOP dead weight and gave America a chance to see up close and personal what's wrong with liberalism.

If the GOP learns from its mistakes and runs a serious candidate for President in 2008, it will be the end of liberalism in America.

  17. For a look at what the future holds turn your gaze on California...no AR's allowed, no .50BMG either (thaahnk you Arnold Rino Schwarzenegger), Government Employee Unions negotiating tax-funded contracts with themselves (raises everybody!) and spending tax money on bizzaro projects instead of where it was slated to go - like roads and infrastructure... It won't just be all-about guns, but you can expect a microstamping bill to go through which is even more effective than an outright AWB at eliminating use and choice.

  18. Unfortunately, prohibitions against bills of attainder only apply to previous actions, not posessions.

  19. treefroggy,

    Thanks for the clarification.

  20. We better hope this serves as a wake up call to the GOP to get their heads out of the sand and run a good candidate in '08. But if hisory is any lesson it won't and we'll wind up voting for the lesser evil again.
