Odd things I pulled out of the side pocket of my purse today...

...while looking for a quarter:

1) The sawn-off bolt knob from an Argentine M1909 Engineer's Carbine. (Don't ask.)

2) A dead CR123 battery.

3) An A1 birdcage-type flash hider, complete with crush washer, which I have no idea where I got or what it was doing in my purse.

  1. You have just described why I’m terrified to fly. I fly monthly or so on business, and even though I always check for prohibited items, I’ve come very close to taking something through screening I shouldn’t. Like the time I found half a box of ammo in my briefcase just as I was approaching the screeners. Fortunately they have those Amnesty Bins close by. Too much of the stuff in my life would make the TSA folks go all wobbly in the knees, and it is not easy maintaining a complete set of sterile luggage.

  2. As soon as I saw the line "The sawn-off bolt knob from an Argentine M1909 Engineer's Carbine.', I cringed. I remembered that post with a shudder.

The good news is that I picked up a great looking 1907 bayo for my SMLEs at the gunshow Friday, cheap. (score!)

  3. Tam,

Don't take this the wrong way, but, you carry a purse?

Sorry, but a picture of you slinging your M4gery over one shoulder and a purse (Gucci, maybe?) over the other is an exercise in juxtaposition that just makes me giggle.

  4. I didn't know 5.11 Tactical made purses...would that be black, khaki, or camo?

  5. I have had similiar experiences with coat pockets, jeans pockets, etc...

Which, like anonymoose makes me just a wee bit paranoid when I fly.

    No no...
M4 in one hand, purse over the shoulder, cigarette in another hand, beer in another hand, and a book in another hand.

I still haven't figured out how she does it. :)

  8. Gee, lucky you don't use a butane lighter.

    That could have been dangerous.

  9. Ah, the mystical confines of the woman's purse.

I have come to the conclusions that:

Like the Tardis, they are bigger on the inside.

Like lead, they are always heavier than they appear.

There can be 67 purses in the closet and none of them are what she wants to use today.

Purses, like shoes, can cause whiplash when walking thru the mall.

Alive, they can tell when a male hand reaches into them...they bite.

    Pretty scary.

  10. I've seen Tam's purse...

...it has a single point carrying sling. ;-)
