As everyone no doubt knows by now, The Tennessean pulled their HCP database off-line.
What kills me is that they put it up in the first place. What did they think the result was going to be? Didn't they follow the Christian Trejbal flap in Roanoke? Don't newspaper writers follow the... er, news? You'd think it would be kind of a job requirement...
The alternative theory, that they were such a special kind of dense that they thought the same stunt would play differently in the Volunteer State, is even less encouraging.
Perhaps the phones rang off the hook with cancellations & threats to publicly post their wives', daughters' and lovers' addresses, as these would certainly NOT have weaponry available for protection. Critters LOVE that sort of thing, you know.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought...
Glad it was pulled, hope it was because some large local advertiser called and suggested there are other venues for his or her advertising dollars.
ReplyDeleteI take a strong and very personal offense at what is, by any name or justification, a direct attack on my family security.
The only social faux pas attached with concealed carry should be the embarrassing 'too cheap to buy a holster, so I shove it down my pants' blunder, wherein any movement causes the pistol to shake down the leg of the pants...
Not that I would have any personal experience of same, you understand...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Tam, where is that holster comparison you promised us?
Maybe The gun grabbers are pushing this story idea on their useful idiots in the media?
ReplyDeleteEach reporter gets to find out the hard way what happens?
This story got little MSM coverage, and we all know these idiots don't consider the Internet important.
Of course they knew what the result would be. They don't care, because they got to poke us in the eye and do the damage, however brief it was. Bastards.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that they follow "the news", but not gun news.
ReplyDeleteIt would doubtless never occur to them to search for reactions to such a thing; I doubt they could imagine the reaction being negative.
From what I understand from those who've been in it, newsrooms tend to be a weird echo-chamber.
The major problem with it is, it's been online, it's published. It's been copied and/or downloaded the whole time it was up.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably cached on that page caching site.
Taking it down did Nothing but make it less easy to find.

Joyce. Foundation. Money.
ReplyDeleteI can't see any way JF isn't behind both of these outing events.
I suspect that establishing this database was timed to provoke people frightened by free citizens bearing arms to oppose the carry bills. It got pulled when they realized that the opposite effect was happening, with people being outraged and fighting back.
