The meanest thing I did all day.

Both the cats were in Pathologically Affectionate Mode, tangling themselves up in my feet and climbing into my lap while I was trying to do something with the computer. Also down at my feet is the subwoofer for the PC's sound system. The thing I was trying to do on the computer was to rip the Mortal Kombat soundtrack CD into iTunes.

When you suddenly turn on K.M.F.D.M.'s "Juke-Joint Jezebel" with the volume turned to eleven and the cats almost on top of the speaker, those critters will just flat disappear.

  1. Heh. I used to tease my dog with this virtual kitty website. The purring & the miaows were realistic enough to start her looking around the apartment for the cat she just knew had somehow gotten inside.

  2. My Random Act of Animal Cruelty for the day:

Puttering around outside, I noticed two things: that the outdoor water dish for the dogs was just about empty, and that the senior dog was lounging regally in the roses, clearly enjoying life entirely too much.

Lounging in the roses on top of the business end of the garden hose.

One hard crank of the spigot got me a hundred and five pounds of levitating Akita, along with the single most disgusted look I've ever gotten from him. You'd think I'd dipped him in pine tar.

Then he went off to indignantly groom his legs. I think he imprinted a little too strongly on the cat when he was a pup.

  3. Tam--

You might want to store your shoes in the oven for the next few days.

I've found cats don't get mad, or even. They get ahead.

Taking a dump in your shoes is usually just the opening salvo.

    closer now see, the revelay-shuuuuun.

I can just see it: Tam dancing around to German industrial in her socks, while her cats cower under the furniture.

Love that song by the way.

  5. An aria from La Traviata made my cat get all wild-eyed and her tail go *poof*... fluffed out 3x the normal size.

We don't listen to much opera.

  6. Yes there's nothing cats like better than music cranked up all the way across the board, 11, 11, 11.

    It's one louder isn't it?

  7. I used to race (speed skating) indoors to the Mortal Kombat theme. "Juke Joint Jezebel" was the cooldown.

I drove my cat off my monitor with Rammstein's "Du Hast". After the leadup, she was a black furry missile cursing me as she headed for under the bed. Not so sure the neighbors appreciated the thump from the subwoofer though. And yes, I did pay for it. At 5am. But it was worth it.
