Actually, bryan, I took it as a reversal of an old song that went "baby, it's cold outside". They used that song in a late-1940's movie called "Neptune's Daughter" which starred Esther Williams, Ricardo Montelban, and Red Skelton. It was hilarious.
Our weather up here in Minnesnowta seems to hit you down there a day or two after it's been inflicted on us. Today's high was 13, the wind is out of the northwest at about 30 MPH, and the temperature's been dropping all day. We're heading for -15F tonight. This big pool of nasty Canadian cold front will be swinging your way by tomorrow, or so.
Order the propane!
On t'other hand, you could just entertain yourself by burning dollar bills in a small wood stove. Given today's prices, it might even be cost-efficient.
When I look at the commodities online I am always disappointed in the propane prices. The stuff is dirt cheap at around a buck 90 a gallon.
If you factor in the energy content vs. other fuels natural gas and propane are way below the market value for the energy content.
Basically it makes our purchase of strategic natural gas resources a few years back just marginally economic. Bad business decision because not only did we not make much money (barely broke even) it through the company into another couple of years of turmoil.
So burn the gas, it is cheaper then other hydrocarbon based energy sources right now. Such is life in the oil business.
I'm sure you know this stuff, but it makes me feel all liberal to remind you-have a care for Demon Monoxide, and take good care of your indoor plumbing. Perhaps a trip to Bertha's Kitty Boutique for a batch of bedcats, specially trained not to clump up?
Too bad you don't have a Dell laptop.
ReplyDeleteGawd I don't miss my propane days...ambient temp drops enough, and the tank level is low enough, you go from 10% to 0% just like [that].
ReplyDeleteCouldn't say how many times I returned to a cold house after letting the tank get low.
Oh I'm sure you'll warm up when you get the bill
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's so cheap this time of year, too.
ReplyDeleteWait until tonight or tomorrow when the wind brings that below zero stuff.
ReplyDelete+1 on warming up after getting the bill. My tank took three hundred gallons the other day at two bucks a gallon. Joy.
ReplyDeleteIs that an Eddie Murphy reference?
ReplyDelete"Baby, why's it so cold in here?"
BryanP
Strickland Propane have a Knoxville outlet? ;-)

ReplyDeleteScrew dat.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothin' better than heating your house with pressurized explosive gas. Makes you feel alive, I tell you.
