If some is good, more is better...

...and too much is just enough.

How best to follow a great day at the range? Why, with another one...

  1. That's just cruel... I'm catching up on posts after another night of dealing with rampant stupidity, and you're off to yet ANOTHER weekend at the range...

Ah to be an illustrious blogger :D Fame, fortune, and rounds downrange...

  2. Hmmm ..., something's wrong here.

How does all this equate to the whole "starving artist"/writer thing, exactly?

Or is this a gurlll thing?

Have you been going on the vamp to arrange "range dates"?

(asks the guy who lives way too far away to even bother being jealous of those who don't)

(and had to settle for only 100 rounds of .45 acp downrange yesterday - because he stupidly forgot to add the .22 pistol to the range bag along with the .22 ammo he humped to the range - and back home as well)

So, what have you to say for yourself young lady (other than, "that was fun!")? :)

  3. The pre-owned Browning .243 Win. rifle I bought on impulse last night? Tack driver. I was "keyholing" at 100 yards. Now if I could just get the brand new Savage .243 Win. to group as well. I've only got about 80 rounds through it, so it might not have settled in yet. Gonna take that to the range in 2 weeks and see if I can't get the 1" groups to get tighter.

Then I put 41 rounds of 180 gr. of FMJ bullets through the new 10mm 1911 and it didn't shoot as I was expecting. It was grouping low left at 25 yards. I gotta get the adjustable rear sight put on. Maybe it does better with 200 grain or Hollow Point bullets. Gotta test that out before I go futzing with the rear sight.

As for my squirrel/rabbit gun - a CZ 452 LUX .22LR with a 28" bbl, it is ready to pick them off at 100 yards. Hear that rustling in the trees? A million tree-rats are shaking in their boots.

  4. well okay, I'm a little jealous to. A friend was going to take me to the range here for the first time in... about a year I think*?

And they were closed for the holiday. Bother. But at least I have a box of .45 Colt now for whenever we get it in our heads to try again.

    Glad you had fun! :)

*Good Lord ammunition prices climbed since last I looked! How do you guys keep up? eek!

  5. I don't know about anybody else, but I handload. I couldn't afford to shoot, otherwise.

I'm going tomorrow if it kills me. I'd have gone today if I hadn't caught whatever creeping crud my wife brought home from work.

I need to practice my draw, my grip, and my speed after last weekend!

  6. Hey! --I was whinging about not ever shooting anymore and she applied a fix, was what happened.

I dunno if she's vamping her other shootin' pal (he is kinda charming but what Tam wears to go shoot is the same Tamuniform as every other day; maybe she's dabbin' a bitta smokeless behind her ears? Doggone it, that's a fire hazard!) but she's certainly not vampin' me. Ewwww.

We went to Eagle Creek. I burned up a lotta rounds I'd had forever and were prolly at their smell-by dates, plus I bummed four rounds of 7.65 Nagant from Tam.
