I'm going to try something only slightly different from my last big kitchen adventure, since I feel moderately comfortable with the techniques involved. I found recipes for baked lemon pepper herb tilapia and some garlic butter squash. Because, you know, everything's better with garlic, butter, and pepper.
UPDATE: Complete with chives fresh from the garden. Yum. Who's the cook? Who's the cook, beeyotch? That's right...
Excellent choice. Garlic butter squash is one of my all-time favorite sides. It better be, given the amount of squash we get in the summer.
ReplyDeletedid you grow fresh dill in your garden this year? That goes nicely with fish, too
ReplyDeleteMy kids LOVE lemon pepper tilapia. Bake it for 10-12 minutes, and they make it disappear!
ReplyDeleteUsed chives from the garden and mixed it in with the fresh squoze lemon juice before dribbling it on the buttered fishies.

Garlic, butter, pepper— what's not to like.
ReplyDeleteMy yellow summer squash are about to take me over so I am inventing different ways to eat them. Try this.
Split a nice tender 6-8" crookneck down the middle. Sprinkle with brown sugar and put on the grill, round side down. Just grill it a while, 'til the bottom is going brown. Eat as veggie, in slices. Mmmm! Simple, fast, and delicious.

ReplyDelete+1. The latest variation on the basic squash recipe had included bacon and corn. Mmmmmmm.
Bacon, yes. I agree with TBolt.
ReplyDeleteBut did you wear a tactical apron while cooking?
ReplyDeleteyou forgot oninons

ReplyDeleteExcept brownies, they're better with hummus.
We go through more baked tilapia than any other fish in this house. It's easy as hell, tasty as can be, and actually kind of healthy.
ReplyDeleteWe like bumpy yello squash in the skillet, too.
If you don't like "organic" vegetables, you REALLY shouldn't eat Tilapia. Tilapia are fed sewage. They were bred to dispose of sewage. Selling them after they get too big is a by-product.
ReplyDeleteI'll eat just about any kind of fish, but not Tilapia.
Tam, it seems like you are getting just a bit domestic in Indiana. Is it something in the water?
ReplyDeleteNot there's anything wrong with that...
