Rumor central...

...says that the gray 30rd AR mags are back in stock at Brownell's. For now.

Regular price. ($17.95)

I am not affiliated with Brownell's and I'm not making a dime off this, but these are good mags. I can't afford any myself at the moment, but y'all should buy 'em cheap and stack 'em deep.

  1. *sigh*

Have I mentioned lately that I hate this state?

  2. I like the 20-rd mags, myself. They're just as irksome to the Bradys, with the added benefit of allowing the shooter to use the prone position.

  3. Do you know if they're date-stamped on any part of the assembled magazine? I only ask because here in NY, we can only get pre-ban high capacity magazines. Anything new with a date stamp on it is illegal. God! I hate this fucking state. And fuck ex.-Gov. Pataki for throwing NY gun-owners under the bus.

  4. They are definitely not NY legal.

  5. I'll have to dig mine out of the safe later but I do believe Brownells stamps the manufacturing date on them.

These must have just come in stock today because I was looking last night and they were out of stock yet. On the plus side, Brownwells just completed their military contract so their full capacity is avalible. Brownells said they can manufacture 1500 mags a day.

  6. 44mag.com has D&H for $12.99, and CP for $12.49

  7. Just ordered me 4 of the gray 30 round mags. Damn those heathens, I really wanted 20 round mags, but they were out. I also picked me up 3 Chip McCormick 1911 mags. I'm a bad boy. At least I got the discount.

  8. Took your advice Tam and bought 10. Brownells and Bravo Company have them and they are starting to sell out. Thanks TT

  10. Or any kind of business actually; or if you are a security guard, cop, or active duty military.

  11. Let me know when AR-15 lower parts kits are to be had.

The week before the election a gunstore on Gunbroker had a couple dozen Colt 6920s for $1200 BuyItNow. I'm kicking myself for not getting one. Or a dozen.

  12. I had some 30 rounders on backorder at Brownell's. Just got notice a couple of days ago that they're headed my way on the big brown truck. Looks like Monday is Christmas! :0)

    20 rounders still on backorder.

  13. The magazine was the major weakness of the m-16 design. Better would be a steel design, with two skins, an inside and an outside, spot welded together. That could give a smooth outer, with an inside with space for crud to fall down past the follower. Some clever metallurgy would make the inside cathodic to the anodic exterior, so corrosion would only occur on the outside skin, with the springs, follower, and internal surfaces remaining clean.

  14. Magpul PMAGS. Very good quality, and cheap. No corrosion, no bent feedlips.

The only problem with them is that they are just not available...

I'd jump on aluminum mags under $20 if I needed some, though, no doubt about it.

  15. Thanks for the tip, Tam; these are good mags and I've been waiting for them to get back in stock.

On the plus side, Brownwells just completed their military contract so their full capacity is avalible. Brownells said they can manufacture 1500 mags a day.

I like the sound of that.

  16. I'm not sure if the Brownell's magazines are still made by O.K. mags in New Britain CT or not. They may have taken them back inhouse, but O.K. which makes Colt among others, is about the best tin mag going.

They did almost as well in the S&W 6,000 round tests as did the PMags, the all time champs.

CProducts also makes a decent aluminum mag, and they have a heat treated alloy steel mag that functions after a police cruiser backs over it, something that would accordion even an AK's box.

  17. I like my original 20 round Colt mags from the 80's. I always figured that unless you are being attacked my a horde(=21 or more) of mutant Zombies, 20 rounds should be enough to get'er done.

  18. Thanks for the tip!

I ordered a 10 pack Saturday, and canceled the Magpul's I've had on order for a month plus.

Got an email from Brownell's today that the 10 pack shipped.
