Today's cheesy '80s video...
...teaches us the lesson that, while we may be poncing about on the stage in a haze of Final Net and spandex fumes, our sound and light engineers are apparently putting their buzzcut noggins together and plotting nukyular armageddon.
If you think the techies weren't planning nukyular armageddon, then you haven't known too many techies. After all, once the nukyular armageddon happened, we'd be the ones running Bartertown.
Verification word: Hensides, a style of facial hair work exclusively by cowards.
There's a great short story by Cory Doctorow about the acne and halitosis crowd running the world post-apoc in "Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse". It's called 'When Sysadmins Ruled the Earth" and it is prolly the highlight of the whole book.
Darn it Tam, you're making me feel OLD!
ReplyDeleteThey're all bald now.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness.
Kool Cheezzzzzze.... but kinda pseudo drama ,,,

ReplyDeleteSpandex gives off fumes? I did not know that. (I did know that when you fart in spandex...eh, never mind.)
ReplyDeleteI do seem to be hearing this song an inordinate amount lately, and in the damndest places, too.
I used to own a keytar!
ReplyDeleteIt's about traveling in a spaceship. But more importantly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAg5KjnAhuU
ReplyDeleteThen there's World Destruction by Time Zone (John Lydon and Afrikaa Bambaata, I think?)
