Most popular.

With the announcement that Ruger is definitely maybe coming out with a 1911, that means the market is more or less officially oversaturated. You can now buy a 1911-pattern pistol with nameplates from Armscor to Z-M Weapons, with price tags anywhere between the low three bills to Infinity-And-Beyond. They've been made in nine countries that I can think of, off the top of my head. But does that make them "Most Popular"?

I'd reckon that the Browning High Power or CZ-75 would probably take the global title...

  1. But they single out brands in that list. I would say the Colt 1911 is not the most popular 1911. I'd say springfield most likely.

  2. It's safe to say that, by sales numbers over the last decade, Colt is probably trailing every other "mass production" 1911 maker. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Wilson sells almost as many 1911s as the Dead Horse company does.

  3. Yet, finding a good holster for a CZ-75 is a bit of a trick, while everyone's grandma makes an assortment for the 1911.

  4. IIRC, many P-226 holsters work well for the CZ-75B. Check with Marko; he was the champeen holster compatibility geek.

  5. Though they don't look much alike, the Beretta 92 holsters fit the CZ-75 variants pretty well.

  6. The Ruger 1911 is a bit of a disapointment. It's not a bad gun but it's not pretty enough to make a special trip for it. It will be priced nicely, though.

  7. Two CZs in 9 and 40, and a Kimber in 45. Prefer shooting the CZs. Thanks for the tips on the holsters.
