Overheard in my Roommate's Bedroom:

TeeWee Commercial Voiceover: "Save money! Save the environment! Ride IndyGo!..."

RobertaX: "Not until you paint the buses dark blue."

  1. Double heh.

As an alternative, pain't 'em like Indy cars of yore: the Leader Card Special, Novi Vespa Special, Miller-Gulfs, that Cummins diesel monstrosity from the '50s (actually the car ran like hell, but it was so heavy they couldn't keep tires on it), the Granatelli turbines from the '60s. If the one painted like Ralph DePalma's 1912 Grey Ghost breaks down, the driver has to get out and push.

    You rode my bus.

    Prepare to drive.

  4. Okay, I'll admit it: I don't get the joke. Is this a before-my-time thing?

  5. Joanna, it's a variation on a line for a popular 1987 movie.

  6. NJT: I got that right away. (Geez, give me a little credit.) I don't get the original "dark blue buses" part.

  8. Stupid puns that I never get when they're written out and I can't hear the emphasis. >:-|

I got the Princess Bride joke right away though. I'm not that out of it.

  9. Well good. But maybe you were only 20 and still had yet to hear of or experience Princess Bride.

In which case you'd seek it out and I'd be remembered for the rest of your life as the guy that put you on the path.

Now if only we had a Holocaust Cloak...

  10. Shootin' Buddy hasn't seen The Princess Bride yet!

I can hardly wait. Watching it with someone for the first time is such a treat. :)

  12. I'm 26. I first saw The Princess Bride back in high school.

Shootin' Buddy, on the other hand, has no excuse.

  14. Ever so slightly edged out (in my book) by Richard Lester's "The Three Musketeers" and "The Four Musketeers."

If you knew how much I loved those two movies, you'd know what a compliment that is.

I've spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocaine powder.

  15. Richard Lester and George Macdonald Fraser.

"Oh, father...what you nearly did to your son." :-)

  16. Can we combine a blogmeet with a showing of "The Princess Bride"?

I know we've (my office mates and I) actually watched it in a local restaurant as the centerpiece to a co-worker's going-away party...
