QotD: Tea Party Edition...

From Brad K. in comments here:
If every party involved, from the Demoncratic and Republican parties, labor unions, Homeland Security, the ATF, the warrantless phone tappers and the FBI, all the way to Congress and the President, were clearly and strictly obeying the limits of the Constitution - there wouldn't be a Tea Party because there would be little of substance to protest.
Word.

  3. You would think such a simple concept would be more-widely understood... But, then again, the folks who are bitching about those seeking a return to the Constitution did vote for Our Glorious President...

  4. Yet,

One party sees power as the end goal whereas another party sees freedom as the end goal. Now regardless of the shortcomings of both parties, it should be stated that there is a direction that the "power" party is moving in. That movement is towards more control and less freedom. Indeed, I am sure nobody is really thrilled with the cult of the Elephant, but I am sure our forefathers were not that thrilled with teaming up with France either. At the end of the day it is about winning. I think we can get it back (limited government), but we must view the Elephant as a means to an end and not the end goal. This doesn't stop with Babar holding Congress or with Barry moving back to Kenya, but with us continuing to push our agenda and making the opposition lose and lose bad. My real concern is how bad do we want this? Do we want this more than NASCAR or is this just a convenient excuse for us to show up with tea bags strapped to a big hat.

  5. I would add to that that the news reporting agencies should be knowledgeable on the Constitution, as well.

OTOH, it may be worth remembering that a strict adherence to the Constitution would have prevented Thomas Jefferson from jumping on the biggest real estate deal in history before it was too late.

    Just sayin'...

  6. @D.W. Drang- Great point. Also how would we have gotten all that cheap land from the Injuns if we abided by those pesky treaties. Tis true that our forefathers were flexible in their interpretations (Alien and Sedition Act), but the beauty is that we have the ability to correct our mistakes. We can start that in Novemeber.
