Glub. Glub.

Two more inches of rain yesterday and last night. More due this afternoon and tonight. The flash flood watches have officially been put out, as the ground is good and saturated.

Flooded fields are starting to be a problem, too, as corn and soybeans don't grow well in rice paddies.

  1. It's a matter of incentive. Indy is just so blasted FLAT. Be it five inches of rain or five incontinent cows, the liquid just has no incentive to go anyplace else. Why bother, when 'over there' is exactly the same as 'right here'?

"Once." "I'm at twice and I think we're looking at another go round THAT IS IF IT EVER DRIES OUT IN TIME."

  3. Um, the abiltiy of the soil to drain is affected by unproductive bumpiness how now? If it's bumpy it would collect in putrid pools or flash flood like an Arkansas campground.

It can always drain into the White River or Broad Ripple canal.

Now, is Global Warming causing floods or droughts. I get confused.

You may note that your tub has a slight slope towards the drain. This is for a reason.

  5. I hate it when the sharks get into the soybean paddies.

*Looks at tub* You mean like how the earf slopes towards the White River and Fall Creek (the secret hideout of Zippy the Turtle)?

  6. It's a well-known fact that the earth slopes away from the rivers and towards the basement of Roseholme Cottage.

With great prescience, your roomie executed some eavestrough / downspout mods recently.

Hope the downspout is extended well away from the house.

If not...a walk in the basement might require a "personal flotation device" (current babblespeak for "lifejacket").

Did you put lasers on them?

    ...

In that basement putting Mausers on them is far more likely.

  10. Monday my area got 7-8" between 0430 and 1200. Bloody awful mess. Worst was a few miles northeast of me, that area got 11".
