Don't go away mad...

In the piece discussing MSNBC scraping Olbermann off their corporate shoe was this priceless quote:
MSNBC issued a vague, unemotional statement saying it ended its contract with Olbermann, who hosted the top rated show on the network.
Top rated show at MSNBC? Boy, that's like being the tallest midget at the county fair.

I mean, when you're locked in a vicious three-way battle with LOGO and The National Geographic Channel for eleventh place in the ratings, is it wise to fire your starting quarterback?

Heck, is it wise to keep him? He's like the Ryan Leaf of political commentators.

  2. Saw in a news item this morning that he's been trying for a year to get out of his $7 million per year contract.

Seems to me that the network would have been the one trying to get out of the contract...

  3. NBC when owned by GE (and run by Obama's new friend - GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt) was inclined to be friendly to one-sided news and views, even when those views cost it money in the terms of ratings.

Now that NBC has had a big chunk sold to a more reasonable business, ratings will likely take a front seat to rantings.

That's because about a year ago, he became a Sarah Palin supporter.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Remember, no rumor is confirmed until it's denied!

  5. You don't just fire your starting quarterback, you do it in a live TV broadcast during Monday Night Football, with him kneeling in front of the whole team on the 50 yard line; and the coach should make the quarterback cry like a baby and maybe commit seppuku, and then the coach should loudly ask, "Who wants to be next - or would you rather play some football?"

"Pour encourager les autres." is how the French say it, I believe.

TW "poryog," as in, "Olberman was fired, and the poryog sure deserved it."

  6. Does it count as discrimination when you fire a repressed homosexual? I wonder which white guy they are gonna get to replace him.

    MSNBC: The other white meat.

  7. Don't worry about Olbermann. He's a smart talented guy. He'll land on his feet.

  8. More people viewed the youtube videos of him "resigning" than watched the actual final show!

I half expect to see him take Robert Gibbs spot at the White House. Hell, MSNBC may hire Gibbs for crossfire...

  9. Is Rachel Maddow next? (please?)

  10. Apparently Lawrence O'Donnell is taking over olby's time slot and they are moving Ed Schultz to 10 PM. Sadly no word on Maddow leaving(I'm still convinced Obama is the only man she would give a BJ to, but she might have to fight Chris Matthews for a spot).

Sounds like all they're doing is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

  12. Somebody said Olbermann's leaving is one year after the demise of Air America.
Obviously, these happenings are the result of a conspiracy of Free Americans to NOT watch or listen.

  15. I think the sale to Comcast had a 'lot' to do with his 'departure'...

  16. LOL. Someone else said that being the top-rated show on MSNBC is like being the best football team in Puerto Rico.

Won't miss him, though. Won't even throw him a quarter when I see him sitting out on the street corner with a "Will hate for food" sign.

WV: quitalen. <--drug you take to convince yourself that your departure from your job was your idea, not theirs.

  17. Maybe Keith can get on a reality show on VH1 or something.

For some reason, I think that he and Alan Greyson would be perfect for "Tool Acadamey".

Actually MSNBC is the 28th rated cable network. Spike is above them.

  20. I watched Keith Olbermann's show on MSNBC. Once.

It was either that or TeleTubbies.

And that 'hired by Fox' link
(http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/01/breaking-fox-news-hires-olbermann/) is horrible. Fox janitors should be offended.
