QotD: Abject Sellout Edition.

Brian J. Noggle on the current state of our "Special Alliance" with the UK:
Whenever I think the president and his smartest-people-in-the-universe have reached the utmost limit in selling out, nay, for selling out, you get something; whenever I think the president and his collegiately credentialed Marxist studies professionals have reached the limit in giving out our nation’s long time allies, they broaden my understanding.
I'm going to wind up pining for the firm, no-nonsense foreign policy of President Jimmy Carter before this is all over, aren't I?

  1. Never thought we'd remember Operation Blue Light as a shining example of good planning & interservice coordination, did we? It seems to be leaning that way, however.
I have an uncomfortable feeling that before the Won is gone, the Bay of Pigs is going to look good by comparison.
wv=emblest: one who has been given unction. Odd, that, considering that I'm ordained.

    You don't already? Starry-eyed optimist...

  4. Barry's hatred of the UK stems from his family's participation (active and cheering from the sidelines) of the Mau Mau Rebellion/Kenyan Emergency.

Regarding the UK, the personal is political.

  5. I've already concluded that this administration is going to repeat every single foreign and domestic fuckup of the entire Twentieth Century. It will require the Platonic Ideal of idiocy to accomplish it, but I believe President Obama is up to the challenge. Indeed, we live in interestingly times.

  6. "Sigh", I'm already wishing for the economic acumen of JC so why not wish for his foreign policy expertise as well. When I wonder if he can get any more clueless, Barry always steps up to the plate and delivers.

  7. Yeah, I was afraid he would wind up being the second term of Carter, but now that seems to be the best-case scenario.

wv=vievator, an elevator that seems to be racing the one next to it.

  8. And the difference between the Obama Administration and a Comintern cell is?

Jimmy Carter is eligible for a second term. The Dems could offer their voters a choice between TWO Nobel Peace Prize winners.

  9. dissing the brits is the only thing obama has done, that i can approve.

any understanding of history that looks favorably on england is fatally flawed. i should be more grateful to them, i guess. half of my mothers people emigrated from there. All of my fathers people came here from Ireland to escape their genocide. our "special relationship" with england got us into two world shooting wars, plus the "cold" one.

  10. Hey Irish,
The Japs got us into one of those wars remember? Somthing about a little bombing or something on some island or another. Sure we were giving the Brits arms but the casus belli for our involvement was Pearl Harbor.
And the Cold War was the pretty much natural outcome of WW2.
I'm of Irish decent myself, but be careful throwing the blame around eh?

  11. The good news is Obama has represented to Mubarak that demonstrations in a country's capital is sufficient reason for a chief executive to resign.

  14. Irishdutchuncle,

If the Micks would take back the Kennedys, Tip O'Neill, and the Daleys, I might find a way to muster up a tear for the mackerel-snapping papists...

  16. BO seems to think the countries of the world needs to be equal in all things: defence, econmomy, education, liberty and freedom.

I believe he will be happy when we sink to the level of Bulgaria or Nigeria.

I would kiss the Brits on the lips. Life for our family is much better here in the US even headed in this direction. Ask me Grandpa.

  17. An extraordinary amount of damage is being done to our foreign policy by these incompetent twits.

  18. What John Stephens said.

Please keep in mind that there are those out there who are viewing the exact same facts that we are, but arriving, somehow, at an entirely different conclusion...this is the alternate reality scenario that will only lead to Worse Things™, as the Endarkenment advances.

Also, please remember that these same cheerleaders for the Marxist state might live right next door to you.

  19. The Marxist relativism of Barakster has him constantly looking for equal outcomes as if that "balanced" things somehow - in War that's not a good thing. Not for us anyhow.

THAT's the phrase I've been trying to come up with for the last two years!

And speaking of the Second Carter administration, you notice which doddering old doofus has shut is yap ??

  21. Gerry,

May I submit for your consideration that our alleged president will not be happy until we approach the dynamic economic levels of Biafra or Zimbabwe...

If you were to somehow anthropomorphise the "special relationship" between the UK and America; that is, if you were to imagine what's going on between the two nations as happening between two people, you'd find yourself urging the former to go to a battered women's shelter and file a restraining order on the latter.

  23. gerry, that's why i said i should be grateful. life here is pretty good, compared to the other places the british have occupied.

Apocalypso: did you ever notice that the japanese drive on the wrong side of the road? just as they do in england? although japan was opened to the world by commodore Perry, USN, the british soon became more influential there. the japanese have the same type of "superiority complex" that the british exhibit. there is a natural affinity between them. it has even been suggested that the british planned the attack on Pearl Harbor with the japs, back in the 1920's, although Jack London predicted it years earlier than that.
the cold war was the result of Truman (and Churchill) continuing the british policy of "containment of russia" which they persued before Marx was even born.

Tam: what can i say? the brits paid for lots of irish families to come here, because they wouldn't starve to death quickly enough at home. they dumped as many of us hungry mackerel-snapping papists on the "good" people of america as they could. sounds like an act of war to me...

  24. Why do people keep referring to a Obama foreign policy doesn't that imply that there is one. I the sneaking suspicion that anytime anything happens overseas a dartboard or a wheel of disision is involved.

  25. A friend of mine calls the jughead in chief "durak obama". He considers it to be a remarkably clever pun, except in Russian. He says it means "fool", but he might be lying to me...

It is a special time when we wish for Carter. Special isn't always good.

  26. Poor foreign policy forced both Germany and Japan to war. It was that or starve. Same as today, we let the elite rich abuse other countries for slave labor and resources. So that you and I can run to Wal Mart and buy useless crap. Nothing really ever changes...

  27. Poor internal economic policies drove both Germany & Japan toward war.

  30. irishdutchuncle:

Sorry, but I draw the line at exactly one generation for retribution.

No one gets to choose their forefathers.

I am not responsible for 19th Century slavery in America. Modern day brits are not responsible for deporting the Irish.

( They are responsible for propping up protestant/catholic hate mongering in Northern Ireland ... once they got a clue, and stopped allowing the protestants to force their down-paddie-down parades on catholic neighborhoods, the violence immediately dropped. )
