When Rahm Emanuel entered the race to succeed Richard Daley as mayor of Chicago in November, he was far from the front-runner.*snort* Well, I guess we'll soon find out who offered Daley the biggest bribe.
How come Jimmy Carter's always going off to watch ballot boxes in Nicaragua and Liberia when Chicago's so much closer to home?
It's easier to pretend to make a difference over there than it is here. All Carter can do here is continue to demonstrate his irrelevance.
ReplyDeleteCarol say's She is ready to go bizerk on Rahm. And remember, When She does'nt win, it's cause we're all on crack.
ReplyDelete(cue crazy Carol laugh.)
Power to the people!
And who's to say that the Pariah from Plains wouldn't just rubberstamp it the way he always does overseas?
ReplyDeleteWV: ovelec. We've got 4 votes for scrambled, 3 each for omlette & over-hard, and one for Eggs Sardou...
Too dangerous in Chitown...
ReplyDeleteAT
You know, I think I remember reading an interview with Jimmy about our elections, and he actually said that they were among the worst he's seen. Don't know why he doesn't do something about it... (not that I want HIM, exactly to do anything)
ReplyDeleteMr. Carter is old. Like most old people he prefers to visit warmer climes. Chicago in February can brutal. Just ask the Gusenberg brothers.
ReplyDeleteIt's safer in Nicaragua and Liberia. People get killed in Chicago when they get in the way.
ReplyDeleteHmm, are they also extending the ballot to certain absentee Wisconsin Senators residing there pro-tempore?
ReplyDeleteI hear the requirements to be considered a resident of Chi-town are kinda loose so methinks Rahm just picked up some more votes...
wv: balbos - yes, balbos, bobos and bonobos can all vote in Chicago elections.
Not even Carter can pretend a Chicago election was "free and fair." Even idiocy has its limits, though the Man from Plains has often shown an amazing ability to stretch them.
ReplyDeleteRahm will win if they have to have 5,283 recounts to do it.
ReplyDeleteElections like this are why I always argue that the non-Chicago part of Illinois should argue not for articles of secession from Chicago, but articles of expulsion for Chicago instead. "The other 101 counties voted: the city of Chicago and the entirety of Cook County doesn't get Illinois tax money anymore, nor do its elected officials get to determine, vote on, approve or otherwise rubber-stamp any policy affecting the citizens of the other 101 counties. So go home while we drop the tax rates, get rid of the unfunded mandates caused by Chicago's attempts at redistribution, and re-arm in case you try something stupid.
ReplyDeletewv: tedumb. Yes, tedumb. A disease that afflicts the mental faculties of candidates and their campaign staffs.
Hey there, there are a lot of us in Crook county that don't vote Dem, we just get out numbered, badly.
ReplyDeleteIn the great hanging chad election there were something like 300,000 "spoiled" ballots, but since the election didn't hang on them, no democrat cared, and the repubs knew they were all dem votes anyway.
Carter LIKES going to Nicaragua - it is nice and warm. All those peasant women wandering around in loose fitting clothes that he can "Lust in his heart" for.
ReplyDeleteChicago is miserable in the winter.
Carter doesn't like the notion of deliberately making a target of himself in a Disarmed Victim Zone. Thus - he stays out of Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI think Jimmy is afraid of those crazy rabbits that chased him off the fishing pond. Probably a lot of those in Chicago.
