The Ayatollah of rock and rolla!

The Mexican Federales have apparently impounded the SUV of the Lord Humongous.

Y'know, when enough time on Craigslist or Ebay Motors can usually turn up a surplus Alvis Ferret or the like, why play Junkyard Wars when you've got piles of narcobux to spend?

  2. So, if things do go south economically, who still thinks the world wont go Mad Max?
    I'm just thinking out loud.

  3. Yeah, but does that mean you're gonna put the "last of the V-8 Interceptors" in the Zed-Drei?

  4. That's awesome. I wonder if they'll auction it off

  5. Interesting (and kinda cool), but given how that drug control skirmish has become a full fledged war, I'm not sure how long it would survive.

Remember the mantra of weaponry- "In the battle between warhead and armor, the warhead always wins."

Our troops have been getting FAR more advanced armored vehicles destroyed by rather primitave anti-armor weaponry. If the jihadis can get RPG-7s, I imagine these cartel groups can do so as well. Or just go another route entirely- plant a bunch of explosives in the road and wait for it to drive over them. Heck, some German terrorists did a number on some guy a while back with a bicycle, basket, explosives, and a copper plate (EFP FTW).

Armor is always a problem when it's introduced to a combat situation, but if you know it's around, there's a bunch of ways to take it out of play.

  7. Anybody check the title on that Ford to see if the ATF was on it?

  8. Heh. About twice a year, just for giggles, I visit a site that sells surplus military vehicles. Lots of useful vehicles (ambulances, communications/electronics vehicles) and yes. as mentioned by another commenter, tanks, APCs, half-tracks... And it has links to a Russian mil-surp site: wanna buy a MiG fighter/bomber? A submarine?

And these trucks are likely plated with mild steel, not true armor plating. I figure a simple molotov cocktail or two will almost certainly turn it into a rolling crematorium, too.

"And it has links to a Russian mil-surp site: wanna buy a MiG fighter/bomber?"

I know exactly where to legally get a pair of Suhkoi SU-27 Flankers. Now... afford to fuel them? Spare parts? Yeah, good luck with that

  10. Mild steel... for now. They have a need and the money, don't be surprised if there is real development.

  11. If it's Ford with the gas-tank in the back it's prone to immolation.
A 3-liter 5-series v-8 is pretty small, might fit the Zed.
Makes me wonder what the Mexistan Navy will show-up with, an armored Cigarette boat?

  12. Do you suppose they dropped a mess of peyote and watched The War Wagon on VHS a bunch of times?

  13. Oh, man! The A-Team could do better!

  14. Better looking maybe, but the A-Team could count on all the hostile fire being blanks.
