Blargle...

I don't have enough tabs open for a legitimate link dump.

My right thumb is sore. Every time I go to gun school, I can always tell where the old fracture from the motorcycle wreck is. (The thumb was broken in the little-bitty 60+mph wreck on the interstate, not the great big 40mph wreck on the surface street...) The damp cool weather isn't helping, either.

Whine, whine, whine... Oh, poor me, my gun hand hurts because I shot a bajillion rounds over the weekend with a bunch of cool dudes and learned a lot of good stuff. Feel sorry for me!

Anyhow... oh, wait, I have one open tab to clear! Oleg took a picture of me back at the LuckyGunner shoot that somehow makes me look like a human being despite the fact that I was probably half-dead with the heat at the time. Normally I hate being photographed, but hating being photographed when Oleg is around is like hating getting wet when it's raining.

  2. Whichever. I never took Latin. (I took German, because they had all the cool words, like schwerpunkt and blitzkrieg and panzerkampfwagen.)

  3. Great photo of the Queen of Snark!

  4. Never took Latin? Glad you are not a pharmacist! German? Add "not aus" to your cool word list. It means "Emergency Stop".

    Nice pic!

  5. IMO, a more beautiful -and certainly more representative- pic than the infamous bikini s...well, I was gonna say "spread" but I'll make it "shots".

'Course Oleg can capture him some fine skin too, should you choose to reprise your yachting role. Do let us know when that occurs. ;)

  6. There a tough training days when you take a shower then have a beer and unwind.

Then there are good training days where you take the beer into the shower with you.

    Very nice picture.

  7. Oleg's picture of you is nice, accept well intended complement's as such. Which pistol did you use in this course the CCA 1911 or your M&P 9x19?

  8. The pic looked familiar...

  9. My favorite german is "Kreuzschlitzschraubenzieher" which means "Cross Clotted Screw Extractor"(phillips) It just sounds neater.

The Oglet shows signs of being a Latin savant. Which means medecine or law, dammit. I gotta try to steer her toward something motre legitimate, like extortion.

  10. Love the hat! And you look great, too, Tam. Wish I could take a class like that. I need to start saving my pennies...

  11. docjim505,

I am not kidding you, when I saw the "life.com" link, before I copied it and opened it, I thought, "It's going to be the pic of Col. Glover S. Johns in Berlin..."

It's creepy how Oleg always catches my eyes looking like that.

  12. That's Oleg's job, to catch people when they're least guarded...

  13. You look great.. That's a terrific picture

  14. Your aversion to getting your picture taken is about on par with my wife's, and for about the same reason, it seems.

Odd that you both don't look at yourselves in the mirror the same way others see you.

  15. That's a really good photo of you.

Took German too in highschool. I thought it was going to be as easy to learn as English .. wrong!

    Favorite German words: Schwerpunkt, schadenfreude.

I have to take Todd G's classes soon.

  16. Not to mention that when Oleg takes a picture, it Stays Taken!

  17. Similar pics of me after a day on the range tend to have more of a mouth breathing, tongue lolling appearance.

Yours is much easier on the eyes.

  18. Beautiful pic, beautiful subject. Brave photographer, I can't help but notice that most of the other pics snapped of Tam were snapped from behind, LOL

  19. but hating being photographed when Oleg is around is like hating getting wet when it's raining.

Still doesn't mean you have to like it. F'rinstance, overheard around Oleg one fine evening in Colorado:

    "Smile!"
    "I am smiling."
"No, you look like you're trying to decide how to kill us. I'm going to photoshop a targeting reticle into your eye!"

I'll stick to the back side of the shutter, thanks.

wv: trumi. President Truman's least favorite nickname. If Hirohito hadn't insisted on calling him that all the time, things could've gone very differently.

  20. It's OK, I've recently decided to just show people as they are. We'll see how the viewers like that.

  21. "I've recently decided to just show people as they are."

Of course. Otherwise there's just art, or commentary, or projection, or manipulation. Redundant, I know.

  22. Tam,

Would I be correct in guessing we're read the same book: About Face by COL. Hackworth?

Anyway, Oleg is a great photographer, and he certainly got a great pic of you.

  23. Oleg,

"It's OK, I've recently decided to just show people as they are. We'll see how the viewers like that."

No, you can keep using whatever filter you're using to shoot me. :)

(Seriously, I've liked every pic you've ever taken of me, which is a rare and unusual accomplishment.)

  24. Tam, I am pleased that you approve.

  25. I always have a bit of a startled pause whenever I hear that someone had a choice besides "French or Spanish" in High School. Latin? Greek? German? Inconceivable!

    Thank you, City of Detroit...

  26. It was a nice hurt, felt into the soul...

  27. Hmm... That lip. Tam, do you have a Hapsburg in the woodpile, somewhere? That would explain a lot.

For the record, I'll say that the Yachting Photo still has a place of honor on my hard drive, not just for the evident feminine pulchritude, but also for the absolutely magnificent grumpiness displayed on Our Tam's face.

  28. And also for the record, I certainly approve of how those Colorado driveway shots came out, Oleg, and meant no disrespect to your skill and talent.

    ...but I was smiling, dammit!

  29. hey Tam, nice shot.
I'm really diggin' the absence of obnoxious comments as well. I guess the transylvanian troll musta effed off.
